While GTA has sold 345 million games, Pokemon has shifted 368 million. It's unclear what titles TweakTown is including in these figures, but it's assumed it accounts for all Pokemon games ever released. Most of that gargantuan number can be attributed to its main series of ga♍mes. Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow alone make up almost 5๊0 million of that number. The next best seller for Pokemon was Gold, Silver, and Crystal which sold just shy of 30 million copies.
If Pokemon's 368 million does account for every Pokemon game ever released, that makes GTA's ever-increasing number even more impressive. Between its numerous spinoffs, the Pokemon video game series is made up of far more titles than GTA. However, as is demonstrated by its top two sellers, Pokemon's sales seem to be more evenly distributed while GTA 5 acts as a pretty big outlier for its own𒆙 franchise.
The coming months will be an interesting time for both franchises. Rockstar recently revealed that GTA 5's new-gen editions will arrive in N🐬ovemb🉐er 2021. While that could see the game's sales surge once again, odds are the remakes of Diamond and Pea♏rl will already be on the market, boosting Pokemon's number.
