Chapter Three of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy 𓆏has t♐he team planning their next moves on how to earn enough Units to pay their fine to the Nova Crops. This chapter is longer than the last one and presents you with more decisions to make.
Here is our complete guide and walkthrough of Chapter Three — The Cost of Freedom — including where to f💙ind all items, collectibles, outfits, and how to complete optional objectives.
Note: This guide is based on our own playthrough and will be updated if we discover any additional collectibles.
Aboard the Milano
You’ll start off back on board the Milano, so you can use this time to explore the ship and speak to your crewmates (there is a funny conversation with Gamora if you h🤡ead into her quarters. Any collectible you have found so far can be found in the ship and interacting with them will result in a new conversation with one of the crew.
Once you are ready, examine the Units on the side in Star-Lord’s🎐 quarters to progress the🔯 storyline.
Should You Sell Groot or Rocket?
You'll now be faced with the decision of whether to sell Rocket or Groot to Lady Hellbender. This decision affects the conversations throughout this chapter and will affect events in the next chapter as well. Ultimately, the story will follow the same direction, but the gameplay in Chapter Four will vary. Selling Rocket results in fewer battles in the next chapter, if this is something you wish to avoid.

When you’re ready, head down and exit the Milano. (You♊ can talk to the crew before you exit if you want to.)
When you🌠 reach the circular platfor🅰ms stretching out toward Lady Hellbender’s Fortress, put your visor on so you can see collectible items better.
When facing the fortress, there is a pile of Basic Components to collect below you to the left. On the next platform over, there is another Basic Component to grab too.
Head back up and face the fortress, and you’ll also see a pile of Basic Components you can grab towards the right of the area.
Progress forward and eventually, you’ll get thrown💝 to the f♓orest floor where you need to defeat a new enemy.

After defeating the jelly cubes, shoot the white destructible stuff 🌊off the ship and ask Drax to drag the wreckage out so 𒅌you can climb up.
On the next level, shoot out the white stuff again t🐽o unveil the wing controls an🍷d get Rocket to work on it. This will bring the wing down so you can climb up.
Once at the top, don’t follow the others to the right, instead move to the left and pick up the Archive on your left. Then jump down just behind it and grab the Basic Components.
Head back and follow the others. You can speak to Gamora as she checks out the tracks, and take a left to grab the Basic Components.
Towards the back right of where Gamora was checking for tracks, you can find more Basic Components, continue past them to f🤡ind a cave entrance on your left — head i⛄nside.
Here, you’ll find some Basic Components in a couple of places, and you can shoot out the white substance at the back with your Ra🌞pid Reload Perk to make a new opening.
Head through and you'll find that there are two jelly cubes to defeat. Once they’re dead, shoot the white stuff at the back of the area to destroy it and head through the passage. Jump across the gap to grab more Basic Components.
Squeeze through the gap here and then climb up to find the Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) Outfit for Gamora.
Climb up again to get some Advanced Components, th�𝕴�en up once more and slide down the other side to meet Rocket.
Here you can speak with Rocket, but the conversation will diff🦋er depending on your previous choice.

Regroup with the others and as you attempt to move through the jungle, a bolt of lightning will cause debris to block your path. Have Gamora remove it, then head through and grab the Basic Components on your right.
Follow the others, ducking under the foliage. You can speak to Gamora on the right to learn about the statues, and beside her is a destructible wall that hides a pile of Basic Components. Head over to the statue holding the dish on the other side of this area (near Drax) to find some Basic Components.
Follow this path around and destroy the white material on your left with your Rapid R🐠eload Perk.
Duck into the newly revealed path and then take a left to grab some Basic Components.
Regroup with Ga꧒mora and you’ll spot a Chitauri﷽ bridge.
Should You Encourage Drax To Throw Rocket Across Or Stop Him?

If You Don’t Throw Rocket:
Drop down next to the bridge and turn around. On your left and right there is destructible material. Shoot the white stuff on your left to be able to drop down and grab some Basic Components. Shoot the material on your right with the Rapid Reload Perk, before ducking through and following the path around. Shoot out the next blockage with Rapid Reload, squeeze through, and grab the Advanced Components on the left.
Get Drax to move the pillar on your right and this♚ will allow you and the Guardians to get across.

NOTE: E♑ven if you get Rocket to open the bridge for you, you can still drop down and grab these Components before crossing the bridge. |
Once you’re on the other side, defeat the monster and then have Gamora cut down the plants near the back of the area. Head through the newly opened path and grab the Basic Components ♉in☂ the back of this area before following your team.
On your left, you can jump to the next platform to get some Basics Components, then jump back and grab the Basic Components on the left before having Gamora cut throug🦂h the next 🧜blockage.
Head through and follow the others across the ledges. Be sure to pay 🐎att🏅ention to the Quick Time Event as it appears. Once across, you’ll battle against a new threat.
Once the fight is over, head towards the others and destroy the gunk with your Rapid Reload Perk. Inside this newly-opened area is a workbench where Rocket can give you new perks.
Scan the yellow square beside the group and have Gamora use it𝓡 to position herself about halfway down so you can jump up, grab her, then jump up again. Once at the top, turn around ༺and shoot down the reactor.
Have Drax move the reactor just around the corner and 🦋then have Gamora cut the🎃 cables just above the block.
Before you continue up the wreckage, have Drax place the block over on the other side of the area so you can climb and grab the Basic Components.
Continue forward and jump down to the next platform, where you can grab some Advanced Components. To the left of the components is the Chitauri Sear-Cuffs Collectible.
Use Gamora to climb♛ back up, then slide down the slope to regroup with the others.
Head up the wreckage, and grab the Archive on your left.
Continue upwards, and when you reach the circular platforms again, you can jump across the platforms on the right to grab some Advanced Components. Then head back towards the others and slide into the next area and complete the Quic⛎k Time Event.

TIP: You need to quickly push the left and right thumbsticks upwards so the arr🍸ows move into the circle, then hit RB to free everyone. |
Once you're free, defeat the cubes with your new elemental attack.

TIP: You can freez🐲e the yellow enemies and then have Drax throw the frozen blocꦦks at the other enemies to deal explosive damage. |
Once the battle is o𒆙ver, scan the Canon cartridges in the ship wreckage, then have Drax drag it out and shoot the motor on the side of it with your Ice gun to make it stay in place.
Send Rocket into the hole a꧂bove the canon cartridge you just pulled out. When the next one pops out, shoot the motor on the side again to get it to stay in place.
Jump up and get Gamora to cut through the cables at the top. Once through, before you jump down, grab the Archive on your left.
Jump down and hug the right wall until you can curve around and climb up. You’ll find some Basic Components here near a statue and you can also talk to Groot here if you want. Head up the path at the back here, to the right of Groot, to grab another Basic Component and♏ then slide back down to where you were before.
When lookingౠ in ꦓthe general direction of where the team is, take the left path (they should be on the right path).
Shoot away the grey goop with your Rapid Reload Perk to open up a new passageway. Climb through, slide down, and double jump at the end to make it across. Climb up to find some Basic Components beneath the statue.
Move round to the left and use your ice gun on the geyser so you can use it as a platform to climb up. Grab the Advanced Components at the top, then jump over and grab the pile of Basic Components.
Regroup wiജth the others and choose whether to encourage Drax to chuck Rocket or not.

If You Don’t Throw Rocket:
Shoot the white destructible stuff to your left and go inside. Grab the Advanced Components and then follow the path round. Scan the crack in the stinky wall🧜 and have Drax hurl the rock at it.
Head through and after a 🐼cutscen🌺e in the next area, defeat the enemies.

Afterward, follow the others by jumping down, grabbing the Basic Components on the nℱext level. Get Groot to build a bridge to reach the next platform.
Take the left path away from the others, shoot out the white material, and grab the Basic Components. Turn the geyser to Ice and then keep jumping up to the top where you will find the Five Horsemen of the Apocalpyse Outfit for Groot.
Jump down and turn the geyser on your right to ice so the others can jump across and join you, then ask Gamora 💎to cut down the plants on your left.
Turn the next two geysers into ice, jump up, and grab the Basic Components. Climb up, slide down the other side, and grab the Basic Components at the bottom of the slope. Follow the path along and grab the Basic Components on your right as you pass them.
Squeeze through the gap in the wall and then you’ll be given one more chance to change your mind about whether to sell Rocket or Groot.
Back In Peter's Past
After a cutscene, you’ll be back in Peter’s childhood room. Head out through the door and you can examine various items in the basement — head upstairs when you’re read🥀y.

TIP: if you go upstairs straight away, your mom is still preparing your birtܫhday cake. If you look around first, she jokes that she’s already eaten i💝t. |
Once upstairs, you'll need to blow the candles out on your cake by repeatedly pressing a button. Depending on whether you blow out all the candles or not changes what your mom says afterward.
In the following conversation with your mom, you can choose how argumentative you are, but either way, the end result is the same.
Afte🥀rward, you have a chance to explore the house a bit more. When you’re ready, examine the present on your mom’s bed to complete the chapter.
