Everything about the Guardians of the Galaxy is ridiculous. If you don’t think a human banding with a talking tree, a talking Raccoon, and distinctly-skinned humanoids is weird then you probably live on Xandar. The popularꦗity of the characters stems from the fact that they’re outcasts but whose quirkiness has won hearts. It gives people oddly relatable characters due to many fans out there having their own sense of detachment with society.
For one to relate with the Guardians there needed to be a buffer; this came in the form of Peter Quill. He’s the only Earthling in the Guardians of the Galaxy and this fact allowed viewers to use him as the surrogate to understand better the space life in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, there’s still in-universe logic to consider and any outlandish fact can’t be accepted purely because the Guardians of the Galaxy series tends to be on the wacky side of things.
Star-Lord seems the least likely to have gaps in logic among the team seeing as he’s supposed to be a normal human-this is disregarding his Celestial heritage-but the leader of the Guardians does have several ridiculous things going for him. Thiඣngs about ꦆhim aren’t altogether crazy, but once you read on about some of the stuff he’s been through, or the stuff he withstands, you’ll find those facts ridiculously interesting.
With Guardians of the Galaxy 3 indefinitely on 🅰hold, immerse yourself in these facts as they might keep you company for a while to come.
25 Knowing Something He Shouldn't 𒁃
The older we get, the fewer🎉 things we remember. That’s just the nature of being a human. However, Peter Quill seems to be superhum🐈an in this regard as he can retain memories of his life before he was eight-years-old.
Most of his memories seem to be from his time on Earth.
He was abducted after turning eight, which means either his celestial blood worked wonders for his memory, or he can remember ridiculous amounts of things of an age that no normal human could realistically remember. The passing of ti𒁏me𒁏 has never fogged Quill’s memory in the slightest, remarkable considering all the stuff he’s seen in space.
24 𒅌 ꦛ Lack Of Character Development
Recall Peter Quill from his very first appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy then think about how he behaved in Avengers: Infinity War, and you’ll realize he hasn’t changed in the slightest. He went from being an immature outl♐aw to an immature ‘G𝓀uardian’ of space.
Characteristically speaking, Quill has been the same person all these years. He hasn’t evolved into a more level headed person, neither does he have any mature manner of thinking; he’s remained just as we𓂃 first saw him. This might be the case for all the Guardians, but it’s not necessarily a good thing. It’s ridꦅiculous to believe he’s spent all this time in the company of a surrogate family and have nothing rubbed off on him.
23 🍬 Indestructible Walkman
Everyone raved about Peter Quill’s celestial powers in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but spare a mention for his Walkman that survived all the way from the beginning of Guardians of the Galaxy-set in 1988-to the climax of Vol. 2-set in 2014.
There are no Walkmans on Earth that have lasted this long in tip-top condition.
Now before you nerd-rage in the comments how Quill must have been repairing the Walkman all these years, consider how the𒀰 device showed absolutely no sign of being tinkered with. The Walkman remained in pristine condition for all of twenty-six years, and it only took Ego to finally squa🅺sh it.
22 Understanding Alien Languages ꦰ
There was an excuse that fans loved to use, which would have been applicable until this year, but the argument that Quill was fixed with a translator chip in his ear/neck -listed in Quill’s profile briefly during Guardians of the Galaxy- can’t be used as of Avengers: Infinity War as several aliens in that film were se🍸en conversing with Earthlings using English.
However, it can’t be possible that Quill came across English-speaking species everywhere he went in the universe as several aliens have been known to speak in their native languages. So, how does Quill understand all these species a🎀nd what ꦆthey’re trying to say?
21 ☂ Forgetting Bereet 🐓
Remember the lovely lady in the picture? That’s the woman who made us comprehend just how attractive aliens could be to humans, too. Peter Quill was knowledgeable of this for a while, seeing that he listed a bunch of names of different alien female species at the Kyln prison in Guardians of the Galaxy.
He may have remained those encounters, but somehow forgot the name of the girl he’d been dating. According to the , Quill had been in a relationship with Bereet prior to dropping her off on Xandar. However, he clearly can’t remember her name after retrieving the orb from its sanctuary. Being a ladiܫes’ man is one thing, but to forget the name of🀅 a girl you’ve been seeing for some time is ridiculous.
20 The Two Quills 🙈 🦂
The Star-Lord we’ve become fond of hasn’t been around for long, unlike almost all the other superheroes. This Peter Quill has only been conceptualized in♌ contemporary times as the original Star-Lord had much different origins.
His parentage was a mystery.
Unlike the current Quill, whose father is Ego, this Star-Lord’s father was shrouded in mystery and 𓆏was teased to have had a conception similar to Jesus Christ wherein there was no father. However, the character was absent for far too long spaces of time and would be redone when different writers would take the helm. Eventually, the current version of Quill was brought forward, with the original being mentioned to be part of a different universe, rather than the mainstay of Earth-616.
19 Knowing Earth Referen🦋ces
The Guardians of the Galaxy movies are littered with 80s refe🧸re𝓀nces, and the distributor of said references is Star-Lord. He regularly makes pop culture references from his time on Earth such as to Flash Gordon or David Hasselhoff. But then that just can’t be possible seeing that at eight-years-old, Star-Lord really shouldn’t have been so in touch with pop culture lingo.
There was no internet at the time to inform him of the latest happenings in media, and call us squares but our parents weren’t so flexible in letting us watch Cheers at such a young age. Remembering stuff from Cheers, whose jokes should have flow🔜n right above young Peter’s head, is too much of a stret🐈ch.
18 Not Knowing ꦗAlien References
The other end of the stick for Star-Lord’s pop culture references is his lack of them when it comes to his upbringing environment. At the age of thirty-seven, which is how old he was in Avengers: Infinity War, Star-Lord’s had a g🌳ood three decades in sꦏpace; however, he never makes any references to the lifestyle there.
Aren’t there space versions of Beyonce and Jay-Z?
There should be celebrities famous enough to be known across galaxies, but they’re never alluded to. Considering just how much Peter lov🃏es those cheesy 80s-style shows, how come he didn’t fall in love with similar shows in alien planets?
17 Survi𓂃ving At🍎tacks
Before he tapped into his Celestial gene at the climax of Guardians of the Galaxy, Peter Quill was just a regular guy doing regular outlaw things. The thing is, regular outlaw stuff requires you to get the crap beaten out of you. It could be explained how other species survive brutal attacks such as Drax getting flung around in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 or Gamora doing the incredible feats she does, but Quill can’t hide behin✃d such excuses.
In the Guardians’ first scene toget🐓her alone Quill takes damage the level a normal human man couldn’t simply walk away from. He was a pretty big dope not to ha﷽ve considered this.
16 💟 Why Is He The Leader? ꦍ
Honestly, Peter might be an awesome guy with a great heart, but there’s no way this man could steer a group of dysfunc💦tional outlaws for so long. We’ve never seen Quill handle the Guardians favorably and the rest of the group always does whatever they want, ignoring his commands.
Gamora should be the rightful leader.
Being headstrong, focused and the daughter of Thanos means she has the right qualities for a leader. For the most part-or rather all the time-Quill is seen being immature along with Drax and Rocket. As to why Gamora follows his lead is anyone’s guess. Rocket doesn’t even acknowledge Quill as the leader in Avengers: Infinity War.
