Their History And Current Leader

The Speakers were not always a criminal gang. Their group arose when Jade technology became more and more prevalent in Cantha, and it was made up of people who were concerned about its rapid introduction into everyday lives. They simply 🅘wanted jade technology to be introduced more slowly. However, it was soon taken over by Tetra Earthcall.

Tetra is a warden, which is a species of plant-based humanoids who are protectors of the Echovald Forest. She hates humans and all dragonjade technology. Tetra twisted the people's good intentions and riled them up to create the Speakers we know today, made up of human, 🧜kestral, and warden forces.

Their Teachings And Doctrine

The Speakers are essentially eco terrorists (people trying to preserve the environment through drastic measures). They believe jade technology is ruining the natural world. Like the Jade Brotherhood, they raid shipments headed for Xunlai Jade, Yu Joon's jade-tech company, in New Kaineng. Unlike the Jade Brotherhood, the Speakers usually destr🎶oy the contents.

The combat training they get is an evolved form of Ritualist training (which appeared in Guild Wars Factions) from long ago. They summon spirits from the Mists, bind them to the physical realm, and then command them to attack their enemies or aid their allies. They often trap the spirits in the real world even when they're not using their power, so that they ha𒉰ve it on hand.

Their War With The Jade Brotherhood

Since the Speakers think that the Xunlai Jade corporation goes too far with Jade technology, you can only imagine how they feel about the Jade Brotherhood, who believe in pushing the science of Jade tech to its limits (however unethical).

Since both of the gangs are based in the Echovald Wilds (because it's far from the law and it's a good place to intercept Xunlai shipments), they're constantly stepping on each other's toes. Their opposing ideologies meant that the hostility eventually broke out into all-out war.
