Oceanus is ho꧟me to Deep Serpents, souped-up versio♚ns of the regular Sea-Serpents who pose little danger to a run. With a unique arena and some very difficult-to-avoid moves to contend with, taking down a Deep Serpent is a challenging (if rewarding) experience! Here's the rundown, so you don't get caught up by this watery demon.

Hades 2 is currently in Early Access, so the details below may change over time.

How To Beat Deep Serpents

The first thing you'll notice about a Deep Serpent fight is its arena and the fact that it is filled with Sop-Spindles, Oceanus's upgraded versions of Spindles with longer beam attacks and often ꦐappearing with Armouᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚr.

Begin each Deep Serpent fight by eliminating every Sop-Spindle in the arena. This shouldn't take long as they ar♒e quite frail, and you'll thank yourself once the Deep Serpent starts pulling out its most dangerou🔜s moves.

The Deep Serpent has three attacks, all with different and obvious telegraphs.

How To Avoid

Spin Attack

The serpent rears up and twists its neck.

Dodge away from the serpent, as it's about to use a radial attack with surprising range. Once ꧑you know the timing of this attack well, you can simply doꦿdge through it and resume your assault.

Cluster Bomb

The serpent fires many projectile♛s into the air with little warning🐼.

This attack comes out with no warning but doesn't damage you until the projectiles hit the ground and explode. Move out of the red circles on the ground - find a safe spot as soon as possible.

Splitting Bomb

ܫThe serpent rears backwards, with no twist in its neck.

Once the projectile from this attack comes out, move out of its path. The further you dodge, the easier it will be to avoid the projectiles 📖the original projectiles splits itself into. The projectiles split twice.

Throughout the fight, the Deep Serpent will sink back underwater and pop up at another point in the arena. A good rule of thumb is to return to the central edge of the pool in the middle of the arena whenever this happens so you'll be able to dodge directly to the serpent's new location as soon as possible.

Prioritise learning how to avoid this fight's attacks and you'll quickly know when it's safe to get damage in. The Deep Serpent has a very hefty amount of Armour, so you'll 𒀰be forced to deal with many attacks beforꦆe you can stagger it.

It's enemies like the Deep Serpent that make Dedaelus Hammer upgrades that grant a percentile Armour shaving boon to your weapon so valuable.

Depending on which weapon you are using, you may not be able to keep the Deep Serpent staggered long enough to stop it from diving and moving to a new location once its Armour is gone. Be wary of th♉is if you're using slow weapons such as the Argent Skull or the Moonstone Axe.
