When it comes to boss fights in Hades 2, things get a little h🏅eated when you stand toe-to-toe with the man who stole fire itself. Prometheus, ambitious as he is, will pose extraordinary troubles for anyone walking blindly into his fight with all his projectiles, effects, and even familiar support.

Funnily enough, that very same over-ambition that got him cursed in the first place will be the most consi꧟stently effective way of smothering this man's flames once and for all. With a little clever setting up, you'll find that Prometheus i🅺s more spark than burn.

How To Prepare For Prometheus

Prometheus will be a tough fight, and just like a fight with Chronos, you'll want to bring every boon you can get your spectral arm on and make the following preparations:

1. Frinos the Frog - Although Raki is also a great option, Prometheus and the top of Mt. Olympus are projectile-heavy. Frinos's anti-projectile features are very valuable up here.
2. Strength Card - Equip the 23rd Arcana Card, Strength, and unequip your Death Defy card. This will allow you to set up for the next step.
3. Gorgon Amulet - Equip Athena's keepsake for the last leg of your journey to ensure Athena appears for you. This doesn't work if you take Toula and haven't used your Defy.
4. Any Deflect Ability - After triggering Athena, take any boon that grants you the ability to deflect. The sprint was most consistent, but any Deflect ability can do.
5. Aphrodite Boons - Weakness boons, the Shameless Attitude boon, and all her damage-resistant boons are very useful here.

In general, your goal will be to reduce damage intake while increasing damage output. This is a huge priority as you won't have Death Defy to rely on, but the St🔯rength Card will do a lot o♋f early heavy lifting for you.

You can alternatively🔴 create a Dodge build instead of prioritizing damage negation. This will require a bit more effort in setting up as the Strength Card already prepares a foundation for a damage-negation build.

Your Deflect from Athena will be a huge part of a winning strategy against Prometheus because of the large number of projectiles in his fight. It will serve two purposes for you:

1. Preventing being hit by projectiles.
2. Preventing the accumulation of zoning fire on the ground.

The trade-off is not having a stronger keepsake - like the Knuckle Bones or the Black Fleece - and no Death Defies. However, Athena's Boons are 🧔so strong against Prometheus that the risk is worth it.

It swoops vertically across the arena after a twirl on the far edge, slightly tracking Melinoe, and ends its attacks by screeching and casting magical projectiles in a spider-like pattern.	Keep moving. As it reaches you, dodge perpendicular to its attack. During its last attack, dodge into the projectile to go through.
	Whe❀n he summons the eagle again, it will only occur after🔜 his Flames of Foresight attack, and the eagle's landing will be indicated by a red circle.
Flame Vortex	Prometheus gather꧅s red and blue energy around him. After charging, he swings in an uppercut and creates a vortex of flame in front of him. The vortex can pull Melinoe into it.	Race behind Prometheus and punish with attacks.
Arena Trap	Prometheus slams 🍎his fist down into the ground and then jumps into the air. He hovers there as a red ring appears around the player. A blue ri൲ng, serving as your timer, will begin to fill out the circle. When it meets the red, the circle will stop moving with Melinoe and become a physical circle of flames that explodes after a delay. The explosion leaves zoning blue flames that linger for a long duration, dealing damage if the player steps into them.	Continue sprinting around the arena and attempt to stay close to the edge. As soon as the circle is complete and stops moving, dash out of the circle to prevent being caught by the explosion.
Flaming Slice Kick	Prometheus gathers energy as he would for the Flame Vortex attack b𒐪ut instead of staying put, he jumps into the air. He then releases a horizontal slice of flame that quickly cuts forꦜward and out of the arena.	Sprint around Prometheus with a fair distance between you and then dodge into the flame kick as the flame slice🐎 nears you. Attack briefly and the💞n retreat.
Flame Ring Slam	Prometheus jumps into the air with a dramatic spin. After falling, he slams his fist into the ground. It creates a preliminary impact, and afterward, a circle of blue flame will appear i☂n the surrounding space.	Dodge inward just at the end of his slam animation. Attack; do not backpedal. After two attacks, you can decide to continue aggressing or dod🐓ge through the fire ring.
Wave of Flame	A red zone on the floor will appear, pointing away from Prometheus an🐻d tracking the♍ player. After a long delay, Prometheus will unleash a wave of flame from his person and out of the arena. The space it touches on the ground will become a lingering flame zone.	Attack and then wait until the last moment where he throws his wave of flame at you. Staying close, dash forward and through him to avoid being struck.
Fists of Flame	Crouching, Prometheus gathers energy aroundꦡ himself and holds his position for a few moments. Once 🙈fully charged, he will unleash a barrage of fiery projectiles that follow the player.	Back off and begin sprinting around Prometheus. Ideally, stay behind him and attack.
Summon Reinforcements	Prometheus will cry out f🔜or reinf𒁏orcements, typically summoning satyr grenadiers around the outskirts of the circle.	Slay one side of the arena reinforcements, at minimum, to minimize damage.
Flames of Foresight	Prometheus jumps out of the arena and to the corner of the frame. On the floor, 🌄a pattern will play out in red arrows. The first time this occurs, there will bಌe three steps. The second time, this attack will have five. After the pattern plays out, flames following the pattern will coat the floor.	Memorize the patterns on the floor to identify safe zones and stay in them until the pattern concludes.

Prometheus's attacks are dangerous not because of inherent damage outputs - though Prometheus is certainly very strong. Rather, many of his attacks leave extended area effects wherever they touch, severe👍ly limiting your movement and punishing mistakes.

If you have Athena's favor in the form of a Deflect boon, you can mitigate some of that zoning, but you'll still have to be vigilant.

How To Beat Prometheus

Prometheus is a highly-aggressive boss that punishes playstyles that favor distance. Staff-based builds will likel🌊y struggle most w♐ith him.

Casts don't appear to limitꦚ his movements very well, and Freeze only barely slows him down.

Equal aggression and movement will be your two keys to success, but your windows of opportunity will be short. That'🍸s why Athena's Deflect, using his aggressive tactics a👍gainst him, can be so important.

Thankfully, Prometheus doesn't have phase-dependant attacks. E🅺verything he does is consistent 💖throughout his fight, making him easy to learn.

The only change you'll encounter is in his foresight attack, which is worthy of attention on several levels:

• The "Flames of Foresight" are pattern-based and each occur at roughly 66 and 33 percent health respectively.
• The 66 percent health will have three patterns while the 33 percent will have five.
• You must memorize the pattern of flames and avoid them accordingly.
• If you are hit by one of these attacks, unless you have the Coarse Grit Boon, it appears to be an instant-loss.

If you also have the short-term memory span of a goldfish, the easiest way of remembering this pattern is not by memorizing where the flame appears but rather by where you can safely stand.

Instead of thinking "Where are the flames going to be?," focus on "Where do I need to go?" Don't focus on the red arrows.

Prometheus cannot be damaged actively while this attack plays, but if you have a Scorch build with the Unlimited Scorch Duo Boon: Hot Flash (Hestia and Aphrodite), Prometheus appears to still take Scorch damag🙈e during the animation. It is not certain ✱at this time if this is intended or a bug.

For openings, Prometheus doesn't leave many opportunities. Your best bets are the following attacks:

• Flame Vortex
• Wave of Flame

Otherwise, you'll need to be on the top of your game to punish every small second of vulnerability. For slow weapons, like the Moonstone Axe, th﷽is can be a bit trick꧑y and requires a large amount of patience.

Do not attempt to go for openings while his eagle is on the field, beyond potentially setting a Cast. It isn't🔯 worth the potential damage unless you're wholly confident and versed with this fight.

If you're still wanting some tips on Prometheus, the following are some good general tips to follow for your fight:

• Dodging toward Prometheus rather than away from him is generally better. He has severe punishments for back peddlers.
• Don't let his Reinforcements pile up on you, especially if you don't have an Athena boon. Their attacks can stagger you into unintended damage.
• Selene's Moon Water is likely one of the best options for her boons in this fight, but the Black Coat's Aspect of Selene Hex, Shine, also has its uses.
• If you don't want to focus on a Deflect strategy, we recommend a Hestia, Demeter, and Aphrodite build to slow Prometheus down while maximizing damage output and negation.
• Never allow Prometheus's delayed circle attack to take up the center of the arena. You'll accidentally trap yourself on an edge - especially when he combos with a Wave of Flames.
• Likewise, try to angle his Wave of Flames to an edge to prevent the same concern (see image above for an example of the threat).

Eventually, yཧou'll get the best of the Titan of Foresight, and his feather and the gates to the peak ꧃of Mt. Olympus will be open to you.
