But I'm most interested in something that isn't there. It's the thing I've been interested in the whole time, and I'm only more intrigued by its lack of presence in the trailer. What is Borderlands hiding with Haley Bennett?

Bennett was announced as part of the cast back in 2021, and her role has been under wraps since then. We know it's a new character, but that's about it. She's not in the trailer at all, and no hint of a new character is suggested either. We saw the main cast in full for the first time in the trailer, as well as a cameo from Moxxi. Benjamin Bryon Davis and Cheyenne Jackson were also missing, but we know they're playing Marcus and Jakobs respectively. Bennett is a complete unknown, and I'm not sure why.

Who Could Haley Bennett Be Playing In Borderlands?

The obvious answer is we just don't know, as it's a new character to the movies rather than an existing character like, say, Maya (who is absent from the cast and who Bennett would be great as). However, there is more to it than that. She could be a new interpretation of an existing character, a character named in the games but not featured on screen, or a completely new face. The former two would make the claim she's a new character a little white lie, but it wouldn't be the first time marketing has told one of those.

The obvious candidate for this 'reinterpretation' role would be Angel - she's in every game in one way or another, and a key part of the Borderlands universe without being a central protagonist. She's Handsome Jack's daughter, and keeping her core story intact while changing this fact might satisfy the 'new character' arc. Angel is manipulative and deceptive, but also layered in her motives. How these hold up without Handsome Jack could be interesting.

That leads to the obvious point - there's no Handsome Jack at all. Some corners of the internet would go wild (complimentary) for a Handsome Jill while others would go wild (derogatory), but replacing Jack with a like for like feels risky. Having someone close to Jack to set up a (168澳洲幸运5开奖网:potentially overly ambitious) sequel could be more likely. There are also several companies and CEOs in the Borderlands universe with so much arms dealing and other nefarious things going𝔉 on, and Bennett could play an important role as one of these.

As for a new character, we're still without a core villain - it would be a little against type for Bennett, but until we know who this villain is and if she even plays one, it's difficult to say much more. If it really is a completely new character, it feels very odd that she's not in the trailer at all.

Why Isn't Borderlands Showing Haley Bennett?

Of course, you might say the reason we don't know who she's playing is so we speculate - it got me to write about Borderlands and got you to read about it. But I doubt that's the case. Bennett is not a household name enough to generate the thousands of these articles that would pop up if it was revealed that Tom Cruise had joined the cast in a mysterious role (and we'd instantly know he was Handsome Jack anyway).

I care because I love her work in a lot of movies, but I'm an outlier. I consider Bennett to be one of the unluckiest working actors today. I'm a big fan of hers, but few casual moviegoers have heard of her or would even recognise her, and it feels like Borderlands keeping her as a surprise package is a continuation of her failing to get any real recognition.
