It has been quite some time since the last Half-Life game but finally Half-Life: Alyx has been released. Valve hasn't exactly been making a lot of games, however, the games they have made have all been very well received. Alyx is not different and what's more, it's a Vir🗹tual-Reality game.
There are a quite a few things that make VR games different but as with other games, there are always things you can miss or just not think of doing until later. To help you on your way, here are 10 things we wish we knew before starting168澳洲幸运5开奖网: Half-Life: Alyx.
10 The Game🎶 Is Very Realistic 🐲
While it might seem obvious for a VR game to be realistic, not all of them are. Half-Life: Alyx has some particularly important bits of realism. One of the first and most important bits is how your 🅘gun💃s work.
Many gamers will have a habit of reloadi𒐪ng long before your current gun's magazine runs out. That won't work here as you'll just discard a magazine with ammo still inside. Furthermore, you need to physically reach for a fresh magazine when you run out of ammo and put it into the gun and slide it into place. Shotguns also mimic real life by reloading one shell at a time.
A📖nother important part is that you do make noise. You can alert or distract enemies by way of a stray bottle falling to the floor. Finally, you can even reduce your noise by cove💦ring your mouth!
9 ♚ You Can Catch Things ಞ
Thanks to the magic of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:VR, there are all kinds of thingsꦏ you can do. One of these things is the ability to both throw and catch things. This becomes particularly useful in Half-Life: Alyx for a couple of reasons. One of these is that you can catch enemy grenades and throw them back at them. Th🍒is also gives you an achievement.
Another really interesting thing that you can catch are the enemy headcrabs. This little enemy has always been one of those things that freak you out mꦯore than they do damage. Well, now that they're in VR, that's even worse of an experience. Thankfully you can catch them mid-jump and shoot them at📖 your leisure.
8 ꩲ You Have Extra Inventory Space 𓆉
Half-Life: Alyx can be pretty stingy when it comes to inventory. It gives you access to a ton of grenades and other things but with a very limited to hold them. One way that you can get past t⛄his is through a certain weapon upgrade. The shotgun has an upgrade which attaches a grenade launcher to it.
This lets you carry an extra grenade for free and means you can save on shotgun ammo. The problem with this upgrade is that it's pretty expensive (i.e. 40 Resin). This makes it doubly important to be thorough in your gameplay, making sure to look around for any resin and pulling it to you with 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the gravity gloves.
7 🐭 ๊ Inventory Management Is Crucial
Even if you do have the grenade launcher attachment, you'll still neဣed to decide on what else you should carry. More grenades or maybe a test tube or two? Well, to make things easier for you, here's something you should know: Test tubes are generally not worth carrying around. The reason for this is because wherever there is a med station, there will inevitably be a test tube somewhere nearby.
This means it's a lot more profitably and useful to keep extra grenades and syringes around. To note, if you find yourself struggling in some combat situation without ღany ammo or grenades, there is one last thing you can do. Objects around you can be thrown at enemies and will do a very small amount of damage. But if you're desperate, then you use what you can.
6 There Are Endless Enemies 𝓀
For the most part, your approach to enemies in the game will be simple. Shoot them or grenade them until they die. With that done you can then proceed to explore the area or move on at your own leisure. However, ther꧑e are times in the game that you most definitely cannot do that.
There will be times when the enemies just keep on coming no matter how many you kill. This is your cue to get out of there. The game can and will send a൲n endless amount of enemies after you when it wants🀅 you to move on.
5 You Can Adjust Movement & Ladder Settings ✃
Especially in VR games, movement can make or break the game. Many people have difficulties with motion sickness but thankfully Valve has kept all of this in mind. The most comfortable option is to simply tel🎀eport places with a small fade. You can also use a faster, linear teleport or move according to the orientation of your head or hands. Use whatever combination feels best for you. This movement choice extends to something particularly convenient: ladders.
Ladders have two different movement settings. One lets you go up a ladder slowly, hand by hand. The other, much more convenient option lets you instantly go up or down a ladder after you touch it. Just go to the options to change 🦩it.
4 💦 ꦿ Listen To Russel
Russel is that background noise kind of character that you can easily start tuning out. He tends to talk to Alyx about both trivial things as well as important things. This means that as time goes on, it becomes easier and easier to shrug his advice off. However, don't do🔜 that as he has some particularly useful information to convey to you.
Some of his hints are story based but he even warns you of gameplay things from time to time. One such example is , when he warns you that this is your last chance to upgrade your weapons. When he says it, he means it; that really is your last chance to upgrade your weapons.
3 ꦓ Pay Attention To Your Surroundings 🌳
As beautiful as Half-Life: Alyx can be, it's easy to g🐷et lost in your surroundings. This isn't a bad thing but it can blind you to important gameplay elements. This also ties into something important about this games pseudo-realism. Just as with the other half-life games, physics is important.
If you fall fro♊m a great enough height, regardless of which movement option you have enabled, you're in for a bad time. The game will attempt to warn you by replacing the yellow footsteps with a small red skull icon. It can be easy to miss, though. Also, don't be afraid to back up to a more favorable area during a fire fight.
2 Look Up
Just as in real life, it's easy to forget to look up and ꦆaround you during the game. There are moments of intense action where, if you don't look around, you can miss something really cool. Valve has put a lot of work into this game and part of the enjoyment of the game comes from the beautiful environments.
There's another reason to look up, though and that's for those danged ceiling enemies. They do have a sort of warning that they're there thaಞnks to the dangling tentacle at least. But they just reinforce how important and useful it is to look up and all around you. Also, you can feed them random stuff like useful items, extra ammo, and He🔯adcrabs.
1 🔯 Choose The🐎 Right VR Equipment
VR games have had varying amounts of success and part of the reason for that is the VR gear itself. Slow responses, bulky headsets and a whole host of other issues can be deal breaking. Half-Life: Alyx does a surprisingly good job of working with a large variety of different VR models. However, the mos💜t optimal is the Valves Index.
Other types of VR gear can work but you may have technical issues. Another important thing to think about before playing this game is that you may want a nice wide open space to play it in. When you're immeꦕrsed in the game, the last thing you want to do is hit your hand on some furniture - especially if you're in the middl🍒e of an intense fight.
