At times even the ever-brave and stoic Master Chief can be wrong. Whether it be making bad judgment calls that affect things down the line or just making morally questionable d𒉰ecisions, there have been numerous instances where the Master Chief was wrong. Here are some of them.

He Went AWOL In Halo 5

Aꦛt the beginning of Halo 5, Master Chief receives a vision of Cortana, who was believed to be dead after her sacrifice in Halo 4, cal💫ling out to him for help and revealing her location. He goes AWOL to investigate but the issue is how he went AWOL.

He brings his Spartan Blue Tea♍m; Frederic-104, Linda-058, and Kelly-087, with him putting them in jeopardy since they are not as important to the UNSC as Chief is. Though they agree to it, he still puts their lives in danger based on what is basically a hunch.

He Almost Activated The Halo Rings

Granted Chief was blessed by ignorance a bit here, but it was his naivety that almost ended in the destruction of all life in the galaxy during the events of Combat Evolved. After narrowly surviving 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the Flood, he first meets 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the Forerunner monitor 343 Guilty Spark. The monitor instructs Chief to recover the index and insert it into Halo's control ring.

Chief is successful but right before he inserts it, Cortana stops him and reveals that Guilty Spark nearly tricked him into wiping out all sentient life to starve the flood. If Cortana hadn't been there, Chief would have wiped out the race he has sworn to protect.

He Trusts Guilty Spark In Halo 3 Despite Their History

Guilty Spark (right) tries to stop Chief from activating the ring, saying "This ring is mine."

Chief reunites with Guilty Spark in Halo 3 after investigating a Flood infested Covenant cruiser. Chief threatens Guilty Spark but the bot is able t♛o convince him otherwise. He trusts him again and again it blows up in his face💙.

When trying to wipe out the Flood aboard the Ark in the game's climax, Guilty Spark betrays the group again by killing Sergeant Johnson and trying to kill Chief and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the Arbiter. Chief's choice once again almost led to his failure but this time he lost a close friend in the process.

He Killed Two ODST Troopers In A Boxing Match

Granted this was an accident, but it also occurred because Chief wasn't aware of his own capabilities. A group of five ODSTs were taunting Chief when he was still a teenager and challenged him to a boxing match.

Chief held nothing back and they would regret their decisions. The Spartan killed ꦰtwo of the ODSTs and severely injured the other three. This incident would forever harm the relat🏅ionship between the Spartans and ODSTs and Chief was the center of all of it.

He Feels Nothing When Taking On Human Insurrectionists

The Insurrectionists are humans that don't agree with the UNSC's policies and have resolved to fight them, despite the Covenant. Unfortunately for them, the UNSC kidnapped kids and turned them into Spartans to fight their enemies and one of those is Master Chief.

Despite fighting humans, Chief seemingly feels nothing when taking on the Insurrectionists. You'd think he would feel some sympathy for them since they are humans as well but those feelings were drained out of him by ONI. Time will show that wasn't the case when it comes to people he's close with, like with Johnson and Cortana. If he was capable of sympathy now, then he simply chose to harbor those feelings in a cold way on the battlefield.

He Doesn't Try To Convince Cortana She Is Wrong

It turns out Chief's hunch was right and Cortana is still alive but not in the way he expected. He finds out Cortana is planning on using the Guardians to enforce a strict galactic peace and kill any that resist in even the slightest way.

She tries to get Chief to join her but he refuses, saying there's a better way. That's pretty much all he does as his closest companion initiates her plans with him not even trying to convince her otherwise. Odd and stupid in hindsight, especially since if anyone could've successfully talked down Cortana, it would be Chief.

He Hesitated To Take Cortana Down

Chief aims his gun at Cortana but hesitates

Chief once said he has to be willing to protect humanity at any cost. But when it comes to Cortana in Halo 5, he doesn't try to take her down since she is the biggest threat to humanity at the moment.

In🔯 fact, he hesitates and it leads to the Guardians being unleashed on the galaxy. Not only is humanity in danger, but so are all species.

He Didn't Bother To Look For More UNSC Troops In Combat Evolved

Chief drives a warthog, alone, on the Pillar of Autumn as it explodes

Back to the first Halo game, Chief and Cortana eventually become separated from the rest of the UNSC. When the Flood enters the scene, on top of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the Covenant, they resolve to blow up the Pillar of Autumn whi🌠chꦗ would destroy the ring and the Flood as well.

Yet they do not even try to look for more UNSC survivors. Cortana just says one time that there aren't any left and Chief just goes along with it. Yet the arcade game, Fireteam Raven showed that the fireteam of the same name was still around. They could have been saved but Chief just left them to die.

He Almost Let Sergeant Johnson Be Experimented On

Sgt. Johnson gives his marines a pep talk in Halo 1 Anniversary's intro cutscene

Johnson has a disease known as Boren's Syndrome, something that was fabricated by ONI in order to cover up the side effects of Spartan-I augmentations.

Eventually, Chief runs into a data chip aboard the Gettysburg and discovers that ONI plans on dissecting Johnson. This would kill him and provide only a small chance of immunity. He originally intended to obey his orders but has to be convinced not to since one soldier can make a huge difference. The fact that he even considered letting a close friend like🌟 Johnson be experimented on is just messed up.

He Left Johnson Behind

Sgt. Johnson and an elite hug it out as the Pillar of Autumn explods in the background, sealing their fate.

Back to escaping the Halo ring in Combat Evolved, the biggest crime of all is that he leaves arguably his best friend behind on it. Right as Chief escapes the derelict Pillar of Autumn in the game's climax, a scene plays out showing Johnson was still alive and fighting an elite.

Chief put the mission first and left his best friend to die as he escapes the exploding Halo. Johnson would survive but it would be because of his own wit and luck, ﷽not because of Chief.
