The roguelite genre may have "lite" in its name, but Have a Nice Death will still push you to the edge. It is about reclaiming death from the Grim Reaper's employees, and since they have supernatural power, it won't be easy. The Grim Reaper has lost a majority of his power due to overwhelming paperwork, so appointments won't be one-sided.
Just as the Grim Reaper is getting his groove back, you need to get into the groo💫ve of helping him do so. Think smart, think fast, hit hard, invest, and stay healthy, or risk getting sent back to your desk… again.
6 ﷽ Experiment With All The Scythes
It comes as no surprise that the Reaper's weapon of choice is the scythe. This makes it your primary attack that can be altered in various ways, depending on which curses you collect. The Scythe comes in one of five forms that you can train within the hub area before attempting runs.
Once they're all unlocked, you get very few chances, if any, to change what type of scythe you take with you. The scythes all have a mix of damage, speed, and range, as well as each one comes with its own special attack. Take time playing around with all of them to find the one that best suits you.
5 Take Evౠery Prism ꦦOpportunity
As with other roguelite games, ther𒉰e are multiple currencies that you can gather during runs. They come in three kinds: Souls, Ingots, and Prisms. Souls and Ingots can be found through exploration and defeating certain enemie๊s, but Prisms are much harder to come by.
Although Ingots and Prisms are uncommon, only collected Ingots are saved while collected Prisms disappear if you die. Prisms are valuable in that they can be used for permanent upgrades to weapons, the shop, and gambled in the break room. Always choose a floor that has a Prism icon since you can't afford to miss it.
4 Don't Take Elevator Shortcuts
A common mechanic in all types of roguelite games is the shortcut. Depending on the title, shortcuts may require a lot of effort to unlock when, ironical🦩ly, experienced players will normally avoid them. In Have a Nice Death, leveling up will unlock Perks including special elevators which wi🥀ll take you directly to the boss fight, allowing you to avoid a lot of hazards.
However, the drawback is that the levels are necessary in order to improve the Reaper's stats like Heath, Mana, and attack power. It may seem like a grind, but it's better to risk it for a stronger build that will carry you farther.
3 Health Comes Bef🗹ore Mana
In the corner, the HUD displays all the Reaper's most important details. This includes an icon showing all his equipped weapons and Fury meter along with a white and green bar representing health and mana respectively. Spells can be very helpful and powerful, but Death's health should take priority. Healing is not easy, and requires finding items that can restore health, but the system makes things harder.
When the Reaper takes damage, it will be converted into an injury which is represented by Grey coloring. If he takes damage while injured, the Grey part will shrink. Injuries♛ can be healed with pickups and basic healing, while permanent damage requires stronger and rarer stuff. Because of this, work on building up the health bar first.
2 Follo𝓡w The Checklist For Discounts ꦅ
The hub area of Have a Nice Death may be a long office broken into different rooms, but it hosts quite a variety of elements. In addition to the Training Area and the Perks List, there's also the shop catalog. Between runs, you have the opportunity to use your Ingots to unlock new weapons and items to be found in runs.
You can build your Ingot reserves relatively quickly, but you'll notice that a lot of products in the shop are quite expensive, sometimes heading into the thousands. What's convenient is that each one has a requirement to fulfill, which can knock down the price up to 95 percent for certain products. Take note of what these requirements are, so you can fulfill them during runs and go on a shopping spree when you return.
1 Don't Buy Weapons Or Spells
Shops can be an oasis in the desert that is roguelite runs, but they tend to have high prices as a result. In Have a Nice Death, you'll visit the shop a fair amount, and it will have a mix of healing, weapon, and curse items. Though the selection can be appealing, don't waste your money on weapons.
This is because weapons are common during levels with a chance to get a new one after each arena. They can be quite expensive at the shop, so it's better to put that money towards passive bonuses and healing.
