However, the long wait may soon be over. While 2025 has been the planned date for a while now, many fans have lacked faith in this. Once delayed, twice shy and all that. When it appeared at the Nintendo Switch 2 showcase, some took that as proof positive that the 2025 datﷺe was finally real, while others felt old🐻 footage flashing during a sizzle reel was proof of nothing.

Now though, we know definitively that Hollow Knight: Silksong will be playable by September 18... kind of. Australia’s national museum of screen culture, ACMI, is launching a Game Worlds exhibit on that date, where Silksong will be playable for museum pജatrons. It's the most definitive proof yet that Silksong will be out this year.

When Will Silksong Release?

With Team Cherry based in Adelaide, it makes sense that the game would be at tꦯhe forefront of an exhibit on Australian gaming. But what does it mean for the release date? There are two schools of♓ thought on this, and as ever with Silksong news, we might be waiting a while longer to find out any more information.

The first theory tells you that if the game is to be played by the general public on September 18, it will therefore be launching before Septemeber 18, possibly around August time. That way, it's out in the world before it's in the museum. The second theory would be that the museum will merely be a demo, with the launch date coming later. If that is the case, then it still probably locks in 2025, a🧸s having the game in a playable state by September (a game that is way less graphics intensive than the biggest triple-A games, too) means it won't be too far from being ready to launch.

A third, more upsetting theory suggests Silksong could be delayed again, pulling the playable exhibit altogether. Let's ignore that o🌸ne, shall we?
