If this is your first encounter with the Relic system in the game you will undoubtedly be very confused. Don't worry if you struggle, though; it will all make sense once you learn the fundamentals. Let's dive in.

How To Level Up Relics

The process of leveling up a Relic is about the simplest thing you will find on Star Rail. The real issue is figuring out what's fair game. After all, the game is designed so you learn about Relics as you stumble upon them, and theܫ in-game tutorial is not𝓡 precisely the most beginner-friendly.

Relics come in different shapes and have different levels of rarity. They also come in sets and can give you stat boosts according to the type of Relic, and each Relic's specific stats.

There are some materials that only serve to level Relics, known as Lost Lightdust, Lost Gold Fragment, and Lost Crystal. You will come upon them as you explore and open chests in the Maze (the🎶 🌼Star Rail Map).

The process to level up a Relic is as follows:

• Open the Relics screen. You can do this through the third tab in your inventory, or from the character screen if you want to equip a Relic as you enhance it.
• Select the Relic you want to enhance. The game will show you the piece's details along with an option to enhance it. Clicking it will show you a menu where you can add materials will open up.
• Select the option to add materials. You may also choose the auto-add option atop the added materials list if you're confident you don't have anything you might need later.
• Click Enhance. And that's it, you're done.

Leveling Relics also costs credits. Each point of EXP costs 1.5 credits.

How To Use Relics As Level Up Materials

Relic EXP materials are still kind of sparse, even if you can get them from a variety of sources. However, these materials come from the Relics themselves, which means that you can use Relics to level other Relics. This is, in fact, the most common way to level Relics. You will probably find yourself using bad Relic pieces as fodder quite often.

The essence of the 🍌process is the same. You just need to:

• Go into the Relic screen.
• Select a piece to enhance.

As the lowest rarity material, Lost Lightdust is also the material you will encounter the most often during exploration.

There are a handful of ways to get some Lost Lightdust:

• As a reward from limited-time events.
• As drops from fighting Elite and Boss mobs in the Simulated Universe.
• As random rewards from chests.
• From Salvaging two-star Relics.

How To Get Lost Gold Fragment

Although they have a higher rarity level than Lost Lightdust, Lost Gold Fragments are actually the most common Relic EXP materials in the game.

Each Lost Gold Fragment is equivalent to 500 EXP. You will often find yourself using them, as they provide a good amount of experience and don't require that much effort to get your hands on. You can get some Lost Gold Fragments through all the following ways:

• As a reward from limited-time events.
• As a Daily Training reward.
• As a reward from Operation Briefing (Parts two-four).
• As a purchasable reward from the World Shops in Jarilo-VI, and the Xianzhou Luofu.
• As a HoYoLAB Daily check-in reward.
• From salvaging Three and Four-star Relics.

How To Get Lost Crystal

Lastly, Lost Crystal is the rarest Relic EXP material at a four-star rarity. Each Lost Crystal is worth 1,000 EXP, making this a super valuable🌸💞 resource for enhancing Relics.

Unfortunately, it is a little harder to come by, especially during the early game when your characters are not strong enough for you to consistently challenge the Forgotten Hall.

This material cannot be made through salvaging Relics.

Regardless, you can obtain it from a few sources:

• As a reward from limited-time events.
• As a reward from Operation Briefing (Parts five, six, eight, and nine).
• As a reward for clearing Forgotten Hall stages.
• As a HoYoLAB Daily check-in reward.

How To Salvage Relics

Salvaging Relics is the process through which you can recycle Relics to turn them into Relic EXP material. It is a🐎lso a pretty simple process, but there are some thing♏s worth keeping in mind.

Only Relics that have not been enhanced at all can be salvaged into EXP material. Leveled Relics can still be used to level other Relics, but you won't be able to salvage them; they won't even show up in the screen.

To salvage Relics, you have to do all the following:

• Open the Relics Screen. You may do this from your inventory or the character screen, but in this case it might be easier to access through the inventory since you will find the "Salvage" option right at the bottom.
• You will be directed to the Inventory Salvage Relic screen, where all the Relic pieces you can potentially salvage will be listed by order of rarity. This will only include all Relics that have not been leveled.
• Select the Relic(s) you wish to salvage.
• Click on Salvage.
• A screen showing you all the Relics you've chosen to salvage and how much Lost Lightdust, or Lost Gold Fragment you will get from this transaction will pop up, so you can confirm that you're certain about salvaging.
• Then all there is left to do is to confirm.

Five-star Relics can be salvaged, but they will always result in Relic Remains instead of Relic EXP materials.

If you want to access it from the Character screen you will need to take all these extra steps:

• Choose a character's equipped Relic. Any works.
• If it is already maxed, pick a different Relic from the Relics list that pops up on the left of the screen.
• Click Enhance.
• Click one of the empty spaces in the material selection windows on the bottom right of the screen.
• Then you will finally see the option to" Salvage" Relics at the bottom of the screen.
• The rest of the steps are the same as above, it's just you need to do more to get to the menu this way.

Salvaging Relics will always result in the same amount of Relic EXP materials.

• Two-star Relics will give you three Lost Lightdust, which is equivalent to the 300 EXP using the Relic as a material directly would give you.
• Three-star Relics will give you one Lost Gold Fragment, equivalent to 500 EXP.
• Lastly, four-star Relics will give you two Lost Gold Fragments, just as they would give you 1,000 EXP when used.
