While the game was initially scheduled to launch in 2021, Horizon Forbidden West was delayed for several months to reduce crunch during development. Creative Director Mathijs de Jonge said that Horizon Forbidden West could have been “released at the end of last year, but then we might have had to work overtime. People should be able to relax, take a vacation, and be with family and friends. That also p🔯layed a part in the decision to release the game now."
