There are only a handful of side quests in Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores, but they're worth doing for both lore and rewards. In His Wake is one such quest, available about halfway through the expansion's main story. If you're eager for more human opponents as a change of pace from giant machines, you'll definitely want to give this mission a try!
In His Wake features the largest group fight in the expansion, including an armored boss with Zenith technology. You'll be able to upgrade the Specter Gauntlet with a powerful alternate firing mode, giving yourself a useful tool for the Burning Shores' final battle!
How To Find The Devotee Stronghold
Once you’ve completed 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Stars In Their Eyes, you can find Otosu, a former Devotee, in the northeast corner of Fleet’s End. He&rsquo𝔉;ll ask you to rescue Lan, who’s been abducted by the cultists.
Return to the shore south of Heaven’s Rest, near the lava flow. Start by searching the dead Quen near the grass to the left, then scanning the area for more clues with your Focus. Check the shrine, supplies, and note tacked to a post, all of which are near the campfire.
When you’ve checked everything, you'll have a bearing to go on; fly southwest to the large archipelago to look for the “sea’s teeth.” When Aloy notes the location, turn south to look for the “steel serpent.”
If you haven’t already defeated🦹 the Stormbird over the wesไtern island, this will be a dangerous flight - watch out for lightning bolts!
When you see the ruined roller coaster, turn southeast and fly toward the large island. Just past the shore, you’ll see some lit ruins where the Devotees have gathered. Dismount and approach from the ground; the cultists will see your Sunwing f💛rom below if you fly too close.
Like most enemy camps, you can go in as quietly or as loudly as you want. Be warned that the Devotees have a Specter among them!
When all the guards and the Specter are eliminated, open the prison door to trigger a cutscene. You'll meet Valea, who will bring you to the excavation site below.
How To Defeat The Devotee Guards In The Mall Prison
Follow the tunnels until you find a wheel; turn it to the right to open the way for Valea, and she’ll holܫd the door open from the other side. Enter the large chamber - a ruined shopping𝔍 mall - ahead to trigger a fight.
Valea will free the prisoners, who will join the battle against several waves of guards. Use cover to avoid enemy fire, and use your Focus to easily distinguish friend from foe. The guards are armored, so expectꦯ them all to take several hits!
When the area is clear (or at least mostly so) climb the stairs to the right to reach the upper level. Work your way around the balcony clockwise and look for a room with hexagonal storage units and a holographic dragon. Inside is Pirik’s Key.
Search the dead, then use Pirik’s Key to open the door at the top of the room. Loot the chests on the right side of Pirik’s headquarters, then use your Focus to look for his trail. Follow it through the tunnel to the left, being sure to pick up the Brimshine as you round the first corner.
How To Beat Pirik
At the end of the trail are some ruins where Pirik will make his stand alongside another Specter. He knows you’re coming, so stealth isn’t an option, but you can still use tall grass to break his line of sight.
Destroy the Specter first to give yourself some breathing room, then approach Pirik. He’ll jump down to ground level if it gives him a clear shot at you, or you can climb the ramp on the left 🦹side of the tower if you pref🔯er to engage in close quarters.
Pirik fights identically to Zeth, so use the same strategy; strip his armor with explosives or corrosion, then finish him with headshots and melee attacks. Avoid the cliff edge at the rear of the area, as Pirik can easily knock you over side.
When Pirik is dead, loot him to get an upgrade for your Specter Gauntlet, then pry open the door at the rear of the tower he was firing from. A cutscene will play. Afterward, return to Fleet’♎s End - it’s just a short flight from your current position.
Install the Specter Gauntlet upgrade at the workbench in town, then talk to Otosu and Valea where you found him at the beginning of the quest. This will finish the mission, earning you the Seagrass Swell dye for your armor!
