There's a lot to take in when it comes to the arena, and you might be wondering how to beat it. Here's everything you need to know about the Arena in Horizon Forbidden West, and some tips for tackling it and getting the fastest times possible.
What Is The Arena In Horizon Forbidden West?
The Arena is the place to go if you want to test your combat abilities or practice against the tougher machines in the gꦗame. There are various trials to choose from, each wi♓th individual challenges and a final tough challenge to face - this last one will include one of the larger machines.
As you take on the challenges, you will only be able to enter with what you currently have equipped. Make sure you have the weapons you want before beginning the challenge. Any materials you use to make mid-combat will be returned to you once the challenge is complete, so you don't have to worry about wasting resources.
In the final challenges of each segment, however, you will be given a set loadout. This wilওl include armor and weapons, and how many materials you have to make extra ammo. The leaderboards will onl♌y apply to these final challenges, so every player enters with the same gear in order to have a fair chance.
What Are The Leaderboards?
Each of the final challenges of each segment will feature a Leaderboard. Here, you can view the times from players all over the world, and compete to clear the 🦹trial in the fastꦗest time.
As mentioned earlier, every player will enter these final challenges with the same gear, so it won't help to track down legendary armor and a fully upgraded bow beforehand.
There are individual Leaderboards for each difficulty level of the game too. If you complete a challenge on Normal, your time will not appear in the Easy or Hard Leaderboards.
How Do You Unlock The Arena?
The Arena is unlocked after completing the story mission The Kulrut. Once this is done, The Maw Of The Arena will be a location you can visit - shown on the map aꦯbove, next to The Memorial Grove - and there will be an available side quest called Opening The Arena.
Once this is done, you will be able to take part in the Arena challenges. The Arena missions recommend Aloy to be level 20, but they can be taken on as soon as they're available. Alternatively, you can come back much later on too.
What Do You Get For Completing The Arena?

As you complete the Arena challenges, you will be awarded Arena Medals. Speak to Dukkah - standing near the Arena entrance - to trade in any Medals you have.
There are three outfits you can purchase with Arena Medals (each viewable above) as well as some legendary weapons. You will need to complete most of the challenges if you wish to grab every one of these rewards.
