These accessibility features are listed out in a post from Guerrilla’s Principal Designer Brian Roberts. In trying to bring Forbidden West “to as many fans as possible”, the folks behind the game incorporated a few general accessibility settings that are automatically enabled at the start of the game. These include subtitles and a game men♓u Notebook. This Notebook is “an expansive encyclopedia containing useful information about characters, machines, and data points found in the world”. There is a🐬lso an additional Tutorial section to help players with game mechanics or controls.

Forbidden West will also include five difficulty modes. Each one is tailored to offer players the experience they want from the game. These pre-set modes range from the easier “Story Mode” to the demanding “Very Hard”. However, to ensure the game fits any player’s needs, there is also a “Custom Difficult🦩y” setting that allows users to “adjust damage levels that Aloy deals and receives to/from enemies”. Plus, an “Easy Loot” system will automatically place any resource component attached to taken-down machines to loot inventory.

The developer has also introduced several options to make using the controller as accessible as possible. While the game will have a few presets for controls, Guerrilla also implemented fully remappable gameplay controls allowing players to customize which button does what. They also added a Co-pilot system which w🧔ill “grant a second PlayStation controller with mirrored controls access to the game”.

Gameplay assist settings will let players adjust just a🐠bout every aspect of the game. These include adjusting the slow speed when the Weapon Wheel is activated, enabling aim assist, increasing the duration of concentration, and activating auto sprint or heal. These are just a few of the features that Guerrilla has implemented to make Forbidden West as accessible as possible. The developer plans to listen to feedback in the first weeks of launch to ensure everyone gets all they can from Aloy’s adventure.
