Horizon Zero Dawn's Frozen Wilds expansion unlocks a whole new section in the northern half of the map, on the Nora side of the world. It is Banuk territory, and it opens up a ne๊w main stoꦯry quest alongside numerous side-quests. One of the more notable side quests is called Ikre's Challenge.
It's essentially a test of how good of an archer Aloy truly is — with a limited amount of arrows in your inventory and a new ally at your side, you need to face some of the game's more recognizable machines in a new environment. Initially, it can be a bit tricky. However, this guide sho🌊uld help you breez🅘e through it with very little difficulty.
How To Unlock Ikre's Challenge
At Keener's Rock, you will see a Banuk Werak doing an initiation test for young Banuks. Th♎e young Banuks need to venture off in🌞to the wild frozen land for four days and nights, surviving with nothing but the land to help them. Aloy then finds out that all but two of them have returned so far, and the leaders do not want to look for the stragglers.
Complete this mission by finding Ikre and helping her to defend Mailen from vicious ma𓄧chines. After this mission, Ikre will not return to the Werak with Mailen and willܫ instead set off on her own.
You will then find Ikre at the Snowchant's hunting ground. It's located in the North-Eastern area of the map.
Walk up to Ikre to talk to her, this should trigger off the start of the challenge.
Pro-Tips To Know Before Starting The Challenge
- You will have a limited amount of arrows to complete the challenge.
- You will not be able to craft more arrows.
- You will not have your spear.
- You should fill your health bar and health capacity.
- Having the Shield Weaver Armor makes the challenge easier.
- If you lose where Ikre is standing, look for the large Banuk painting on the ground. This will indicate where she is.
How To Complete Ikre's Challenge
You are going to work together with Ikre on this one. The premise of the challenge is that you will lure the machines towards the rock where Ikre is standing.
Then she will shoot them with Freeze Bombs. Then while they are frozen you will need to take them down.
Fortunately, they are all machines from the original game. So if you are used to them, they are pre꧅tty easy to take down.
Your kills will be harder and you will waste more arrows if you kill them while they are not frozen. Wait for Ikre to freeze them!
The machines come in 4 separate waves. There is not a time limit for this challenge, only an arrow limit.
The challenge ends when you run out of arrows.
Wave One: Scrappers
Use This Arrow Type: Hunter Arrows
There will be a herd of 4 Scrappers.
You need to get their attention without wasting an arrow firing at them. You can do this by running around until they see you and the indicators aboveꦓ their heads go red.
Once you have their attention, run back to the area below where Ikre is standing (the area with the Banuk painting on the ground) and they should follow you there.
You will need to stay on your toes and dodge their attacks whilst you are waiting for Ikre to freeze them. Scrappers are fast so the easiest way to dodge them is to roll out of the way as they launch at you.
Once the elemental indicator above a Scrapper's head fills up𝔍, the machine will be frozen.
Now that one machine is frozen, target it. Use your focus to scan the Scrapper to find its weak points. Target the weak points with precise shots.
Scrapper Weak Spots:
- Power Cell - Located on the rear of its body.
- Radar - Located on the top of its body.
If you focus and aim properly when the machine is frozen, it will go down with very few arrows.
Rinse and repeat with the remaining Scrappers.
Wave Two: Grazers
Use This Arrow Type: Hunter Arrows
The second wave is a group of 3 Grazers. You will need to search around the challenge area to find them. Be careful not to leave the area.
Follow the same steps that you did with the Scrappers. When Ikre h♔as frozen them൩, scan them for weak spots.
Grazer Weak Spot
- The Blaze Canisters - located on the rear of the machine.
Aim for this spot and this spot alone on each Grazer. If you do, you will only use 2 arrows per machine.
Repeat these steps with the other Grazers.
Wave Three: Tramplers
Use This Arrow Type: Hard-Point Arrows
Wave three is actually only two machines. Switch to the Hard Point arrows for this one, as they're one of the best 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:types of arrows in Horizon.
Use your focus to highlight and tag the Tramplers. This will help you keep an eye on where they are — their attacks are deadly and surprisingly fast, 🔜so stay aware.
As with the other machines, get their attention and lure them to Ikre.
Once Ikre has frozen them, use your focus to scan them again to find their weak spots.
Trampler Weak Spots
- The Processing Unit - The big yellow ball located on their belly.
- Power Cells - Located on the top of the machine's back.
For maximum damage, you need to aim for the Power Cells.
If you stand next to Ikre once the Tramplers are frozen, you can usually get a clear shot of the Power Cells.
Repeat with the other Trampler. Be careful on🥃 this one though, you can use up your arrows without rღealizing it.
Wave 4 - Fire Bellowback
The final wave is a single machine, a Fire Bellowback. It will spawn on the upper edge of the map against the cliff wall. Bellowbacks are one of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the most powerful machines in the game.
Once you have its attention you will need to lure it back to Ikre. As before,ꦚ Ikre will freeze the machine with her ammo.
When it's frozen, scan the machine to find the weak spots.
Fire Bellowback Weak Spots
- Cargo Sac - This makes up the back half of the machine. It's a large transparent area holding green and flammable liquid.
- Gullet - Located under the chin/chest area of the machine. It's the same color as the Cargo Sac
Take out the Cargo Sac first by firing a few arrows at it. The Sac should explode and cause a lot of damage to the machine.
Once it has done this, aim for the Gullet until it's destroyed.
At this point, the machine can be left with a tiny bit of health left. Wait for Ikre to re-freeze the machine if the elemental counter has gone. When it has been fro💞zen, hit it anywhere with an arrow and it should go down.
If you have taken down all 10🀅 machines with the limited arrows y💖ou have, you will have completed Ikre's challenge.
