The masks in the ultraviolent indie Hotline Miami series ෴are a significant feature and are not just there for cosmetic reasons. Each mask gives you unique abilities which will determine the playstyle of the stage you are on.
Some ꧅masks are more useful than others and provide a clear advantage or change the game meaningfully. These masks offer both changes to the look of the game and your playstyle.
8 ♍ Russell - Bovine Butcher ꧑
The Russell Mask is a bull mask that is only available on the console and Stadia versions of the first Hotline Miami game and it is not in the PC version. The in-game description of the mask reads as “Raging Bull” which is possibly a reference to the black and white Martin Scorsese movie of the same n💃ame.
The Russell Mask applies a black and white filter to the game except for the HUD and blood which makes blood stand out on the stage much more, accentuating the game's violence. The mask is obtained in the Prelude stage by the dumpster where you place the briefcase.
7 The Twins - Swans Of Death ♍
Ash and Alex Davis are twins that you play simulta🏅neously in Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number. The twins each wear a swan🥀 mask. Alex has the number one on her mask, and Ash has the number two on his.
Alex wields a c🌟hainsaw while Ash uses firearms. During gameplay, the twins will follow each other closely, and you use left click to use the chainsaw and right-click to fire a gun. The twins are 𒐪the only example in the Hotline Miami series of two characters being controlled at once.
This can lead to fun moments where you can fire the gun 🍸to attract enemies to your location and then chainsaw them as they come around the corner. It is worth noting that each character in Hotline Miami 2 can only be played on specific levels unlike the first game where any mask can be used on any stage.
6 Jones - Gotta Chomp 'Em All
The Jones mask is ಌan alligator mask that adds even more gore and violence to Hotline Miami. The Jones mask’s description reads “More gore.”
Wearing the mask makes kills and executions bloodier and more violent. If you’re a fan of the Hotline Miami series, the violence will be a big part of the reason, and this mask increases it. The Jones mask can be found on the stage Fu🌌ll House in a sewer.
To obtain the mask, you must first complete the stage, exit the building, and approach the manhole cover at the bottom of the map with a crowbar. This will open the manhole, and youꦡ will then be able to enter the sewer to pick up the mask.
5 Branꦫdon - Gotta Go Fast(er) 𝔉
The Brandon mask is a purple panther mask that makes you move much quicker on the stage whilst wearing it. The description of the m🔥ask reads “Walk faster.”
The Brandon mask is similar to the rabbit Graham mask in that it speeds you up, but it is slightly faster than the Graham mask. The mask is perfect for those wanting to speedrun or increa🌳se their score through the time category. The Brandon mask is unlocked by achievinꦜg a high score on the stage Fun & Games.
4 🐟 💛 Mark - A Bearserker Of Sorts
Mark is a character from Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number that wears a grizzly bear mask and dual-wiel🌠ds MP5s.
Mark is the only character in the Hotline Miami games who can dual-wield weapons, and you can also aim the MP5s in opposite directions. This makes clearing out corridors extremely useful. The bear mask is named after and based on a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Payday 2 mask.
3 Willem - N𒅌o Monkey Business
The Willem mask is a monkey mask that gives you the ability to execute enemies and steal their weapons without needing to knock them down first. Willem’s mask description reads “Rip and steal” which some speculate refers to the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Doom series, but it is most likely coincidental.
Whilst wearing the Willem mask, you can execute enemies by tearing out their throat before grabbing the weapon they are holding. This mask greatly reduces the time needed to eliminate enemies as you no longer need to first knock them to the ground and then execute them before they get back up. It alsꦛo means you’re less likely to get caught by another enemy mid-execution and before you have the chance to pick a weapon up.
2 Tony - Actually A Tiger 🎀
The Tony mask is a tiger mask that allows you to kill enemies with punches, including dogs. Getting a weapon before dying can be difficult in Hotline Miami, but this mask means you don't even need a weapon.
Tony is identical to the Brandon mask in its appearance, but the Brandon mask is purple and described as a Panther mask while Tony is yellow and orange and described as a tiger. The Tony mask makes your punches kill enemies instantly, which is especially useful🦄 against troublesome dogs who otherwise require a weapon to defeat.
The Tony mask features in both Hotline Miami games, and its appearance in Hotline Mꦏiami 2: Wrong Number is extremely bloody. When playing Tony in the second game, you cannot pick up any weapons and must solely use your fists.
1 Carl - Not A Llama Obsessed With Hats 🔜
T♛he Carl mask is the only insect mask in the series, and using it gives you the drill weapon at the start of t๊he stage. The mask description simply reads “Start with drill.”
The Carl mask is the only legitimate way to use the drill weapon in the first Hotline M൲iami game as it does not spawn on any stages. Hitting an enemy with the drill will knock them, and you will then be able to execute the♔m by drilling into their head, causing their brains to spill to the floor.
The drill is a hand൲y weapon as it awards many points for its use, so the Carl mask is great to use if you are trying for a high score. The Carl Mask can be found on a corpse in the dance room on the stage Push It.
