The most significant change is to the camera. Separate ౠfrom the Quality Of Life ch🌞anges are a few aesthetic refreshers that brought House Of Ashes back towards Supermassive Games' roots. The menu that collates the choices and effects selected by the player, which was once shaped like a literal "moral" compass, now appears as the two wings of a crow.
While the crow has never appeared in any ve🌃rsion of this menu before, not even in the games prior to The Dark Pictures Anthology, it's reminiscent of the butterfly that was so vitally symbolic to Until Dawn's menu and🃏 ideology.
3 Some♏ Of The Deaths Are Inspired By Until Dawn, Too
It's clear that Supermassive Games' wanted to bring back some of that sweet, sweet fan fervor that Until Dawn manifested, and they did so by molding House Of Ashes in their biggest game's image. Several of the potential death animations in House Of Ashes mirror possible endings featured in Until Dawn. Both games feature fatal eye-gouging, death by explosions, decapit𒈔ation, and characters meeting their demise at the hand of a steep cliff.
While granted, there are only so many ways that developers can off their characters, the sheer number of parallels between the꧋ two games feels intenﷺtional.

Remember how, once upon a time, everyone and their dog were talking about that ? Supermassive Games sort of did that, probably. We know that there was at least a foggy shape of💟 what was to come because the🌄y've been planting seeds to their future games in every single title.
For instance, In Man Of Medan, there was a discoverable newspaper from 1947 that covered a story about a group of archeologists that went mysteriously missing in Iraq... exactly like the (skeletal remains of the) group that players of House Of Ashes stu♉mble across. Fast forward to the present, and there are references to Devil In Me, their next title, in House Of Ashes, where players can find newspaper clippings and hidden books about a serial killer.
1 A Secret Ending Ties House Of Ashes Back T෴o Li🐭ttle Hope
Near the beginning of the story, it's revealed that Lieutenant Corporal Eric Ki🎃♈ng, has a prosthetic leg. It's a souvenir from a car crash, but in terms of further detail, nothing is really given... not unless the player completes the game with every single character alive. If this lofty condition is met, then a special cutscene is unlocked that shows the day of the incident.
On its own, this wouldn't be a particularly interesting reward for all of the player's hard work, however, it's revealed that the car crash took place near a certain diner... the diner at the end of Little Hope. It's a strange reference because the timeline clearly indicates that it can't be the same crash at the beginning of Little Hope, but it's rewarding to realize that something truly ethereal e✱xists in a game that took a disappointing twist away from the extraordinary.
