House Of The Dragon: ꦦThe Curse Of Harrenhal, Explained
Here's all you nee🃏d to know about The Curse Of Harrenhal in House Of The Dragon!
After the death of Rhaenys Targaryen and her dragon Meleys in the Battle of Rook’s Rest, Rhaenyra found herself in need of more dragons to challenge the might of Aemond and Vhagar in battle. Some unclaimed dragons are mentioned in the books and the show, and if claimed, they will be game-changers in the wars to come. The idea of the dragonseeds was suggested by Jacaerys to allow bastards and distant relatives to attempt to claim the wild dragons, and there's a total of six that have been briefly touched upon in the TV show.
Seasmoke
Seasmoke is a swift and agile dragon known for its pale grey scales and was initially bonded to Laenor Velaryon. After Laenor's death/mysterious disappearance, Seasmoke remained riderless for a time and became agitated during wartime. Jacaerys suggested the idea of Dragonseeds to Rhaenyra, and eventually, Seasmoke was claimed by Addam of Hull, a legitimized bastard of Corlys Velaryon, after a failed attempt by Steffon Darklyn.
Claiming Seasmoke was a huge deal because it was now proven that even bastards or distant relatives could claim dragons, and, with other unclaimed dragons nesting in Dragonstone, the Blacks could keep growing in power. Seasmoke is bound to play a crucial role in the numerous battles to come and contribute significantly to Rhaenyra's war efforts.
Sheepstealer
Sheepstealer is a bigger and more mysterious drago🦄n in the show and was infamous for, you guessed it, his peculiar appetite for sheep. His mysterious origins only added to the intrigue surrounding this unique creature that had hatched while King Jaehaerys I Targaryen was still young.

Here's everything you need to know about why the Brackens and B🎀lackwoods hate each other in House of the Dragon.
The dragon was bonded with Ne🐟ttles in Fire and Blood, a mysterious dragonseed who formed a connection with Sheepstealer by giving him﷽ a sheep to eat every morning till she was allowed to mount him. However, the House of the Dragon TV show has chosen a different route and has hinted at the Sheepstealer spending its days in the Vale, and it might just be claimed by Rhaena Targaryen, as there is no mention of Nettles in the show.
Grey Ghost
Grey Ghost is another wild and elusive dragon with silver-grey scales, known for its camouflaged appearance and solitary nature. It preferr🦄ed a life of seclusion, far ౠfrom human interaction. Due to its preference for isolation, Grey Ghost did not participate in the Dance of the Dragons, and it was never tamed in the books.
Instead, it remained a wild and untamed dragon and would often go out for food and spend its time in a nest at Dragonstone. Throughout the war and its aftermath, Grey Ghost remained unclaimed and was eventually killed and partially devoured by another dragon. At first, everyone thought it might’ve been the Cannibal, but it was later revealed to be Sunfyre, Aegon II Targaryen’s dragon who had slain Grey ꦏGhost.
Silverwing
Silverwing, a majestic dragon with silvery scales, was once the mount of Queen Alysanne Targaryen. She and Jaehaerys would often take Silverwing and Vermithor out into the seven kingdoms to explore the land and, even at one point, went to the wall in the north, though both these dragons refused to go past the wall. After the queen's death, Silverwing remained riderless for a time.
Eventually, she was claimed by Ulf the White, a dragonseed whose loyalty shifted throughout the Dance. Silverwing's presence was usually not in combat, and in the books, her rider dies a very unglamorous death. She is considered the most docile of the dragons nested on Dragonstone and allowed multiple people to try and tame her without killing them. She is the third-oldest living dragon in the show after Vhagar and Vermithor and is almost as fearsome.
Vermithor
Vermithor, known as the Bronze Fury, was a colossal and ancient dragon, one of the largest and most powerful in Westeros at the time of the civil war. Its immense strength and size made it a game-changer in the Dance of the Dragons. Vermithor was originally the mount of the Old King Jaehaerys I Targaryen and is the only living dragon almost as big as Vhagar. It’s also the dragon that Daemon sings to in the final few e♌pisodes of the first season.

House Of The Dragon: Every Major House, Ranked🍌
How do all the major houses in House of the Dragon compare, and which one com💯es out on top as the strongest?
After Jaehaerys's death, the dragon remained unclaimed for years, slumbering in Dragonstone. Hugh Hammer, a blacksmith's apprentice, claimed Vermithor during the war and initially sided with Rhaenyra and the Blacks. His ambition and newfound power led to conflicts and betrayals that significantly impacted the course of the Dance and eventually led to him declaring himself king down the line, which in turn led to Vermithor’s and Seasmoke’s death after they got caught up in a fight.
The Cannibal
The Cannibal is the biggest and oldest of the wild dragons and is ඣnoted for its scarred appearance, cannibalistic tendencies, and being one of the most dangerous creatures in Westeros. Its role in the Dance was limited, as it mostly kept to itself on Dragonstone according to the books an෴d has not yet been shown in House of the Dragon.
💜Non▨e of the dragonseeds were foolish enough to disturb the Cannibal.
Its presence was questioned at times, and a lot of people think that the Cannibal is just a story the smallfolk have raised to legend. The Cannibal is also described by some accounts to be older than Balerion the Black Dread, which would make him theo𝓀retically bigger than 𝄹both Vhagar and Balerion. However, due to its temperament and the fact that it’s only been sighted ♈a couple of times, the Cannibal remained unclaime🔥d throughout the Dance and was eventually written off into legend.
