Some sad news came out of the Overwatch League this weekend as the Houston Outlaws announced the retirement of flex-support Shane 💃"Rawkus" Flaherty after nearly three🅺 seasons with the squad. His time in the Overwatch League may have come to an end but Rawkus assured fans of things happening on the horizon.

Rawkus has been a staple of professional Overwatch since its early days. He was part💦 of FaZe 🔯Clan before the Overwatch League began and then signed with the Houston Outlaws for the inaugural 2018 season. Fast forward to nearly three full seasons later and Rawkus has officially called it quits from the Overwatch League.

2020 wasn't the greatest way to end his career as Rawkus split a lot🌊 of playtime early in the season with Jung-keun "Rapel" Kim before finding himself spending more time on the bench than ever before. It doesn't diminish his accomplishments in the league as well as his strong personality for the Houston Outlaws.

The highlight of Rawkus' pro Overwatch career came from the 2019 Overwatch World Cup victory with Team USA. It was his third year with Team USA and they finally took down the three-time champions South Korea before beating Team China in the finals. Rawkus played alongside arguably some of the best western Overwatch pros in history.

It may be the end of the line for Rawkus in the Overwatch League, but it doesn't mean his esports days are behind him. In a TwitLonger, he talked about his plans moving forward in his life and a big part of that revolves around pursuing a career in VALORANT, Riot Games' newest project that has garnered a lot of attention from former and current Overwatch pros. It will be exciting to see this new venture for Rawkus as he moves forward in his careeꦇr away from the Overwatch Lea🍨gue.
