I loꦍve the potential of mouse mode, but the more I played it, the more I wondered how exactly Nintendo expects us to actually use this feature.

A Portable Console With A Wireless Mouse?

The event was set up with mouse mode in mind. When I approached the booth to play Super Mario Party Jamboree, there was a waist-height table in front of the TV that had enough room for four players. There were two long rows of TVs wherℱe🐟 Metroid Prime 4 and Civilization 7 could be played, with a long table in front of the screens stretched out from end to end. For my Drag X Drive 3v3 match, the six of us sat down in front of a table so that we all had plenty of room to frantically slide both Joy-Cons all around.

The venue had a great setup that provided an environme💫nt to show off all of the new Switch 2 games in the best light, but as I thought about playing those games again once the Switch 2 comes out, I had a hard time imagining what kind of environment I would play the✱m in.

What kind of setup do you need to play the Switch 2 with a mouse? Because I don’t have anything like that, and none of my friends do either. I have a comp▨uter desk where my monitor, mouse, and keyboard belong, and I have a couch in front of my TV in the living room where I play console games. To play these Switch 2 games in mouse mode, I would need some kind of hybrid of both spaces, and I don’t know if such a thing exists for most people.

Are We All Going To Have To Buy Nintendo Lap Desks?

I’m just a little confused about the use case. I could move my keyboard and mouse out of the way, connect the dock to my computer monitor, and play the Switch 2 that way, but I have a PC for that. My Switch is for playing games in bed, on the couch, or with my family at Christmas. I could just treat any semi-flat surface like a mouse pad and play on the armrest of my couch, the side of my mattress, or my own leg. 168澳洲幸运5开奖𓄧网:That works better than you might expect, but I would only ever do that in a pinch.

The best setup for playing in mouse mode is exactly what Nintendo had at the event: sitting or standing at a table. I’m just not sure anyone has something like that. I could sit on the couch uncomfortably hunched💜 over the coffee table. I could sit at the dinner table and play when it’s not being used for, y’know, dinner. I could stand over my d🌱ryer in the laundry room with the Switch 2 propped up on the drying rack. There are plenty of flat surfaces in my house, but none the right height or distance from a TV to make this work.

A lap desk seems like the most convenient way to do it, but a big plastic board that sits on your lap isn’t very convenient at all. You’ve gotta store it somewhere and dig it out whenever you want to play a mouse game. How does that work when my family wants to play Super Mario Par꧒ty Jamboree at Christmas? Do I need four lap desks? When it’s tim🐷e to stand up and jump around for the Jamboree TV mini-games, do we pile up our lap desks on the side of the room? It’s not that there aren’t answers to these questions; it’s that a new type of hassle and consideration has been introduced to the most flexible game console of all time.

The only place✤ I can see myself having a hassle-free surface to play on is on an airplane. I travel with my Switch a lot, so I think I’ll still get a lot of use out of mouse mode. I think it’s a great feature, I just don’t see it getting used very often by most people if they don’t have some convenient way to use the mouse.

Maybe Nintendo is cooking up some kind of accessory that addresses this problem. I can imagine some kind of foldable hard surface mat that attaches to the back of your Switch and transforms into a tiny lap desk. Knowing Nintendo, it’s probably going to be something weird and wacky that no one but Nintendo wo🍃uld have ever thought of. I want to embraceꦗ mouse mode, but I just don’t get how I’m supposed to use it.
