I’ve been waiting for this moment for a long, long time. After eight months and eight sets (how are they coming so fast?) has finally given me the Pokemon card I desire the most, or rather, given me the chance to have the card I desire the most. After opening 80 packs of Eevee Grove, I still haven’t puဣlled a single copy of the Full Art Umbreon.

Poke🌌mon Pocket’s Eevee Grove Expansion Is The First 🃏Pack Where The Chase Cards Aren’t Even Rare
Does anyone actually want that gold Eevee Bag?
What have I pulled? Practically everything else. I have all eight of the other full art Eevee and Eeveelution cards, and multiple copies of some of them. I have both the Flareon ex and the Full Art Flareon ex. I got the Immersive Eevee. I even got the golden Eevee Bag. My pulls would probably be considered extremely lucky so far, and I’d have to agree, if only I’d gotten the single stinking card I actually wanted. I wish I could say this is an isolated incident, but I’m seriously starting🎐 to believe Pokemon TCG Pocket knows what I want, and is refusing to give it to me.
Umbreon-less
Okay, I’m not seriously starting to think that. But if someone told me the Umbreon is rarer than every other Eeveelution, I would believe them. It’s hard to ignore an established pattern, which started with the infamous 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Moonbreon from Evolving Skies and continued with the new Umbr𒁃eon ex in this year’s Prismatic Evolutions set. Pokemon knows these rare Umbreons are going to be 👍big money chase cards when they’re being made, and we know the harder it is to pull, the more packs people will buy. It would stand to reason that Umbreon cards are secretly rarer than other cards of the same rarity. I’m not trying to start a rumor; I’m just saying personally, it feels like that’s what’s going on here.
Pokemon TCG Pocket’s Eevee Grove is the digital equivalent of this year’s Prismatic Evolutions, just without the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:mobs of resell﷽ers an☂d fist fights at Costco.𒅌 These days, I’m happier casually opening my digital packs and enjoying the quick dopamine hit of seeing cool cards on my phone, rather than braving a line of scalpers standing behind a Target on restock day. Or, I would be, if this lousy game would ever give me the damn card I want.
I get it, that’s the nature of trading cards. I’ve been ripping back and feeling disappointed since the ‘90s, and I know it's all worth it for those rare moments where you hit big and pull your chase. It’s just gambling, and sometimes you’re going to lose. Most of the time you’re going to lose. There’s nothing mystical or conspiratorial about the fact that I haven’t pulled the Full Art Umbreon after 80 packs. It’s just statistics. I know that inte💃llectually, but it still feels pretty personal.
Throw Me A Frickin’ Bone Here
Umbreon isn’t the only card I haven’t pulled in 80 packs. I’m still missing four out of five ex cards (three copies of Flareon ex though, thank you very much). But becaus🍬e Umbreon is the only one I care about, I’m hyper-fixated on the fact I don’t have it yet. With every new pack I open, it feels more and more like the game is doing this to me on purpose.
This isn’t the first time Pocket has held out on me. Nor is it the second, third, or fourth. Just before the release of Eevee Grove, I spent a couple of weeks trying to finish up my Celestial Guardians: Solgaleo collection. I had three of the five ex cards, and if I could manage to pull either of the missing cards, I had enough pack points to craft the other one. I think you can guess where this is going. Over a two-week period, I pulled all three of the ex cards I already had again. In fact, I pulled two more Dhelmise ex. I still haven’t pulled either of the ex cards I was missing. I’m probably going to have to keep opening Celestial Guar♏dians until I have enough points to craft them both.
Computers can’t actually create true randꦛomness. They can approximate randomness; they can make things so random that you’d never be able to tell the difference without knowing the algorithm itꦯ's using to randomize things, but ultimately it's just a facade of randomness. Cloudflare uses a random number generator called the Wall of Entropy, a shelf filled with a hundred lava lamps, for securing internet traffic, because there’s no way to virtually create true randomness.
Pokemon TCG Pocket packs are probably as random as they can possibly be. It’s probably a coincidence that I can never seem to pull the 🌠cards I really, really want. I probably only think there’s a phenomenon here because I’m not thinking abouওt the cards I’m not pulling that I don’t care about. There’s probably nothing nefarious going on, and I’m probably overthinking this whole thing. Probably, right?
