Sephiroth is the main villain of Final Fantasy VIIbut the story would not exist without a different antagonist from ancient times, as an alien named Jenova once threatened the world. It's possible to use Jenova as a villain in a  campaign, as she can turn friend against a friend by simpl෴y existing.

Jenova's powers are based around body horror and science, but there are plenty of similar enemies in a Dungeons & Dragons world to compare her to. Is Jenova's method of infection any different than how mind flayers reproduce? She already exists in a fantasy setting in Final Fantasy VIIso it shouldn't be too hard to adapt her. In mechanical terms she would be one of the most powe🍸rful aberrations in existence, with a range of powers, Legendary Actions, and several Mythic Traits.

The Terror From Beyond The Stars

The Dungeons & Dragons multiverse is host to all sorts of magical beings, but there 🍌are also Lovecraftian horrors lingering on the edge of reality. The Spelljammer campaign setting confirmed that there are all kinds of monstrosities🐷 out beyond the stars, and one of them could find its way to Faerun, Krynn, Oerth, or a homebrew campaign world.

Jenova's personality and motivation are left purposely obscured by the developers of Final Fantasy VIIbut she appears to be a sorꦑt of cosmic leech, who arrives on planets in order to feast on the local lifeforms, in order to gain the energy needed to continue her intergalactic journey. She is similar to Lavos from Chrono Trigger in many ways, and she doesn't necessarily need a defined personality to be a terrifying villain. The fact that Jenova is unknowable is part of what makes her such a scary foe, and giving her a Bond villain speech could easily take that away from her.

The Infected

Jenova managed to destroy an ancient magic-using society through the use of biology. She combined her shape-shifting and telepathic abiliti📖es to make herself appear in a pl༒easing form and approached people. Once they were in her range, she infected them with her DNA, transforming them into monsters under control. This is a frightening ability, and she could easily use it to build an army or lay waste to a city within the space of days.

In mecha꧋nical terms, Jenova's mere presence could force constant CON saves, with a single failure resulting in the opponent being transformed into a creature similar to a zombie, except it has the aberration type, instead of undead. This is just ꧂for the human/demihuman races. She could transform dragons and giants alike into mindless servants, each with their own grotesque mutations.

The Sacrifice

In Final Fantasy VII, Jenova was stopped in the North Crater by the Cetra (a popular fan theory suggests that this was the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Knights of the Round, but this was debunked by one of the producers of the game). In order to stop Jenova, a last alliance is needed to take her🦹 down, and fast.

The party would need to find some magical way to protect themselves from Jeonova's a✅bilities, but this should be limited in scope, ensuring that the battle is on a tight schedule. Jenova will quickly amass servants that will protect her, and it's possible that she will have an army of monstrous servants that obey her ᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚevery command and never grow tired. The party might have to quickly forge alliances with different cities and even make peace with old enemies in order to ensure that they have the numbers needed to destroy Jenova's forces, before they even get a shot at her.

The battle against Jenova should be suitably epic. Her shapeshifting abilities will allow her to turn into a form that is beyond mortal comprehension. The fact that she can survive in outer space means she will also be incredibly durable. Whatever measures the party has taken to keep themselves immune from her influence will be stretched to their limits, as the fate of the world hangs in the balance. The Cetra had the power of the Lifestream on their side, while the party could be helped by the gods themselves (albeit distantly), as the pantheon likely won't be too happy with this outsider screwing with their plans. Whatever happens in the end, the battle against Jenova will be hard-fought and full of sacrifice, which would make for🔴 an epic climax to a campaign.

The Future

The battle against Jenova happened in the distant past of Final Fantasy VII and we know little about what exactly occurred. If the DM really wanted to go the Final Fantasy VII route, then they could set 🌄their next campaign centuries after the climactic encounter between the party and Jenova, with their names being written 🌠into legend.

There's just one problem - Jenova never died. She was badly wounded, to the point where she was forced into a state of hiberna🔯tion, but she is (slowly) healing. Another problem arises when she is discovered by a group of adventurers who believe that she is some slumbering goddess. They discover that her blood has healing properties, and they begin to experiment on her remains. One of the adventurers who drinks the blood of Jenova is unaware that she is pregnant. Jenova's influence returns to the world, as spellcasters experiment with her body and learn of its incredible transformative properties. The adventurer who first found the body gives birth to a baby boy and is stunned to discover that he has white hair...
