The campaign worlds of are filled with ruins left by ancient civilizations, many of which form the basis for classic dungeons. One of gaming's most famous leading ladies could easily be replicated as a Dungeons & Dragons character, as Lara Croft could exist in ✃the landsಌ of Oerth or Faerun, in order to raid tombs in search of treasure and lore.
Lara Croft 🌟is considered to be one of the most iconic video game characte🦂rs of all time, partly due to the fact that she was one of gaming's first sex symbols. The most recent iteration of the character has downplayed this aspect, with more of a focus put on her personal growth over the course of her adventures. The original Lara Croft was fearless and implacable in a way that sometimes made her seem cold and callous, while the new Lara Croft has to go through hell before she starts to become the adventurer that fans love.
Lara Croft's Ability Scores, Class, And Background
The version of Lara Croft we have created uses material from the Player's Handbook and Tomb Of Annihilation. Lara Croft is a human (non-variant) rogue who takes on the Thief archetype at level three. Using the basic stat spread listed on page 13 of the Player's Handbook and taking her race into consideration, Lara's starting stats would be STR 9, DEX 16, CON 13, ♛INT 14, WIS 11, and CHA 15.
Lara Croft comes from nobility, but every iteration of the character has disdain for the upper class and throws herself into the adventuring lifestyle. As such, her background would be archeologist, which can be found in Tomb of Annihilation. Her starting skills would be Acrobatics, History, Investigation, Perception, Stealth, and Survival. She would also gain proficiency in cartography and navigation tools from her background. If the variant Feat rules are used, 🍨then Lara would benefit from Alert, Athlete, Crossbow Expert, Dungeon Delver, Keen 🙈Mind, Linguist, Mobile, Skulker, and Sharpshooter.
The current iteration of Lara Croft uses a longbow in battle, but the early versions relied on firearms in battle. It's possible that the player can substitute these for hand crossbows, but there are also rules for primitive handguns in the Dungeon Master's Guide that could be uಌsed, pending the Dungeon Master's perm🌟ission.
Lara Croft's Alignment And Skills
Lara Croft's alignment is a tricky prospect. The original version of the character could be considered Neutral at best while dipping into evil at worst. Lara often works to keep dangerous artifacts away from the hands of those who would use them for evil, but she is also responsible for some pretty heinous crimes of her own, including mass-murder. The new version of Lara falls into Neutral or Chaotic Good, but she also kills a lot of animals and people without hesitation. In a D&D world, this might not be as much of an i🉐ssue, as she'd fit right in with a group of murderhobos.
Lara Croft relies on her skills in order to explore tombs and dispose of her enemies, which makes her a perfect fit for the rogue class in D&D. A highly-skil꧅led rogue with knowledge regarding ancient history, languages, the ability to detect and disable traps, and a deadly aim will fit right in with most parties, especially ones who have to explore dungeons on a regular basis.
When it comes to playing a Lara Croft-style character, there are different approaches that can be taken, depending on the version that the player wants to emulate. The original Lara Croft was defined by her confidence and fearless nature, which is perfect for shorter campaigns. The current version of Lara is less sure of herself but grows more confident over time, as she survives more adventures, which would fit better for a longer campaign. The D&D campaign worlds contain numerous tombs that are filled with treasure and magic items, but they're also guarded by ancient traps and deadly guardians that need to be bypassed. The average D&D rogue is a pickpocket or hired killer, but a Lara Croft-style character could eschew the tropes of the class and act as more of a '30s adventurer, which will be extremely useful in a campaign like Tomb of Annihilation.
