A chunk of Final Fantasy VII was completely optional, which led to gamers missing out on the entire Wutai sidequest and the party member that was tied to it. Yuffie Kisaragi was one of the optional party members in Final Fantasy VII, a ninja with a penchant for stealing magic ꦯitems from her party members, though she eventually comes around and works to help save the world from Sephir﷽oth. players can become Yuffie with a rogue build, but will want to avoid stealing from the party.

In order to find Yuffie in Final Fantasy VII, the player needed to encounter her in a forest, defeat her in combat, then correctly answer a series of questions. If the party visits Wutai with Yuffie, then sh🐭e will steal all of their Materia, forcing them to rely on regular attacks, items, and Limit Breaks in order to survive. Once Wutai has been completed, Yuffie starts to behave and genuinely takes up Avalanche's cause to save the world. Yuffie is presented in an even more positive light in the novels, where she travels the world in the search for a cure for Geostigma.

Yuffie's Ability Scores, Class, And Background

The version of Yuffie we have created uses material from the Player's Handbook. There was a time when the cast of Final Fantasy VII was intended to have jobs that were similar to character classes. In Yuffie's case, she was defined as a Ninja Assassin, which tells us exactly what her class should be. Yuffie is a human (non-variant) rogue who takes on the Assassin archetype at level three. Using the basic stat spread listed on page 13 of the Player's Handbook and taking her rac𝔍e in🧜to consideration, Yuffie's starts stats would be STR 9, DEX 16, CON 15, INT 11, WIS 13, and CHA 14.

Yuffie is the daughter of the ruler of Wutai, but she eschewed the life of nobility, as seen during the events of Before Crisis and Crisis Core. Her goal throug✱hout her life was to steal Materia as part of ⛎a plan to help Wutai gain its independence. As such, her background is Criminal. Yuffie's starting skills would be Deception, Stealth, Acrobatics, Sleight of Hand, Investigation, and Persuasion. If the variant Feat rules are used, Yuffie would benefit from Alert, Observant, Mobile, or Skulker.

In terms of alignment, Yuffie would start out as Chaotic Neutral. Her initial goal involves stealing as much Materia as possible, through a mixture of cons and thefts, which extends beyond the members of Avalanche. Yuffie's goal is noble, as saving Wutai from the clutches of the Shi💟nra Corporation and restoring its independence would be beneficial, but she commits a lot of crimeꦇs in the process. Once Yuffie starts to think beyond Wutai and genuinely works to stop Sephiroth, she moves to Chaotic Good, even if she never quite loses her desire for Materia.

Yuffie's Strategies And Roleplay

A character who wants to steal lots of magic items is going to quickly earn a lot of enemies among their party in Dungeons & Dragons, especially when there are plenty of divination spells that can uncover a player's crimes. It would take a highly-skilled player working in tandem with the DM to pull off this type of character, and not every DM is going to want to deal with the headache. As such, the player should clear this type of character with the DM beforehand, especially with the current edition of Dungeons & Dragons, as there are hardly any magic items to go around. One compromise could be to make sure that the player doesn't steal the items owned by the other party members, but everything else is fair game. This still has the possibility for chaos and drama, but at least it doesn't involve players attacking each other. In many ways, Yuffie can be played as a standard thief with a higher cause, as her goal is to find a mythical magic item with the power to free an enslaved nation. This has a lot of possibilities for an interesting character, so long as the player knows their limits and does their best not to ruin the campaign. Yuffie almost destroyed the world with her greed, when she stole Avalanche's Materia and set them off-course from their mission to stop Sephiroth. A player could easily do the same with a Yuffie-style character in Dungeons & Dragons if they aren't careful.
