Cleaning your PC, is absolutely essential if you want to keep it running at optimum levels for a long tim♌e. No matter how clean the surroundings are, your CPU will undoubtedly collect dust and dirt over time. This is doubly so for gaming PCs, which have multiple cooling fans to draw in air, and dust along with it.
Cleaning an intricate PC setup may seem daunting at first, but there's really not much to it. There are certain areas that you need to concꦍentrate on, and use some easily available tools. Of course, if you're still hesitant to do it on your own, we suggest you contact a professional to service your PC. However, o✅nce you take a look at these simple steps, you'll see it's not very complicated.
Things you'll need:
- Microfiber cloth
- Can of compressed air
- Cleaning alcohol
Do not use a vacuum cleaner to clean your PC. It can create st💞a💮tic electricity that will irreparably damage your components.
Before you begin, ensure your PC and main power switch is off and all the cables are unplugged. We recommend first cleaning your PC internally, as it will cause dust and dirt to settle onto the external cabinet. Also remove any dust protectors you may have installed on the cabinet, these can be cleaned with a ꩲdamp cloth and left 🎃to dry.
Internal Cleaning Process
Remove or open the side panel of your cabinet. If you can remove ⭕the panels from both si🌃des, we recommend that you do; this will help any dust fly out of your CPU entirely, once you start the cleaning process. Next, take out your RAM chips - this step isn't necessary, but makes the cleaning process a bit easier. After that use the can of compressed air and start blowing the dust off the internal components.
Do not bring the can's nozzle too close to circuitry, as there's a chance of damag🍸ing it. A few inches distance is just fine.
Angle the nozzle in a way that blows the dust out of yous cabinet. Areas to focus will be your GPU and any other horizontal surface. You can also use the can on the internal side of your cooling fans, so that any dust settled on them is blown out. You can then use a microfiber cloth to clean up the remaining dust settled on the cooling fans and at the bottom of the cabinet. Do not use any cloth on the motherboard circuitry. Make sure the insides of the panels are wiped dow✤n before closing them.
External Cleaning Process
Now that the internal cleaning process is done, 𓆏the external process is pretty easy. You can just wipe down your PC with a microfiber cloth. Ensure you clean properly around the cooling fans, as that's where most of the dust will settle.
If you really need it, you can alsoꦕ use some cleaning alcohol on the exterior, but try and🔴 keep it away from any ports. Just give the CPU a do-over with the compressed air one last time, including below. Snap the dust protectors back on, and you're done.
