If you’ve been playing Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity all weekend, then you’re probably ready to mop up the ancient evils of the land, if you haven’t done so⛄ already. The best way to do that is, as ever with these things, the most powerful weapon you can get your hands on, and in this game there are a lot of weapons for you to juggle.

Some weapons in this game will even change up movesets and play styles with familiar characters, so 𓆏it’s good to experiment. Here you’ll find out which weapon is best for each character so you can focus on the fight and not bog yourself down thinking about the tools you’ve brought.

You should note that, unless you’ve cleared through the story of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, you might find spoilers in the guide below. You have been warne𝔍d…

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity - all characters, best weapons

Link

Link has three different weapon styles to choose from, and each comes with a unique moveset inspired by The Legend of Z🅰elda: Breath of the Wild.

  • Sword and shield: The best single-handed sword for Lin𝓀k is the Master Sword, naturally, as it emits beam attacks with every slash while Link is at full health.
  • Two-handed sword: The most powerful heavy weapon for Link to෴ wield is the Royal Guard’s Claymore, a large black sword with huge damage potential.
  • Spear: Link’s best spear is the Royal 🌠Halberd - it doesn’t do anything particularly fancy, but it can output a lot of raw damage.

Impa

Impa specialises in ninja daggers, and there are three that she’ll be able to earn throughout the game, though she won’t be changing up her moveset - it’s impressi🐼ve enough 💧as-is. Impa’s best weapon is the Devoted Kodachi - a symbol of Impa’s loyalty to the Hyrule royal family.

Zelda

Zelda will boast two different playstyles by the end of the game, and bot𓆏h of them can end up being incredibly explosive.

  • Sheikah Slate: The best Sheikah Slate is the Ancient Overclock Unit - all of the icons for her different weapons look similar, so ꦚmake su﷽re to double-check the names.
  • Bow: Zelda can also use several bows. The Bow of Liဣght is very useful and, like the Master Sword, can’t be sold🦩 or fused to another weapon, so you’ll be keeping it around. Though for raw damage, you might find the Sealing Bow more useful.

Mipha

Mipha just uses a single weapon type and combines acrobatics with weird water orb trickery that I can only assume is a native ability of Zor⭕a. Mipha will be best off 🔴using the Lightscale Trident.

Daruk

Of course, Daruk uses giant stone swords to beat down enemies. His best we🔜apon is the🦹 Boulder Breaker, and it has a surprisingly excellent range.

Revali

Revali flies above the stage in his aerial state and lets lo💛ose dozens of arrows. His best bow is the Great Eagle Bow, which h🍎e probably believes is named after him.

Urbosa

Urbosa will be using Gerudo scimitars, ⛦and her best is the Scimitar of the Seven. This weapon can easily have more than 80 damage at level 20.

Hestu

Hestu, as he does in his Breath of the Wild appearance, uses ma𓄧racas. Unliওke his Breath of the Wild appearance, he uses them to hit people here. His best set are the Shakalaka Maracas, which look a little bit like Korok poop.

Heavy spoilers in the list from this point on - you have bee🍒n warned!

Sidon

Like his sister Mipha, Sidon uses spears and fancy water attacks. Sidon’s best weapon is the Ceremon💃ial Trident, although he uses it more like a baseball bat a lot of the time.

Yunobo

Yuཧnobo the young Goron champion utilises food as a weapon - I suppose it’s an energy source for his punches. His best weapon is the Weꦇll-Done Rock Roast.

Teba

Teba is a 🥂lot like Revali, his Rito brethren. He can fly above the stage and decimate enemies with arrows. The best bow for him is the Great Falcon Bow.

Riju

Riju’s weapon is actually a bridle for riding her sand seal, P🎃atricia. The better the bridle, the better the ride, I s♓uppose. The best weapon for Riju is currently the Starlight Bridle.

Master Kohga

Master Kohga, the Yiga clan leader, is a complete buffoon and even decides to eat food during his comb🦹os. Despite that, he wields lethal sickles in bꦑattle to prove he’s all business. His best weapon we’ve seen is the Demon Carver.

King Rhoam

Zelda’sܫ fathe𓄧r and King of Hyrule, King Rhoam, uses massive broadswords and claymores in battle. His best is the Royal Claymore, a weapon fit for a king.

Great Fairies

The Great Fairies wear precious bangles on♋ their wrists as weapons to slap away enꦦemies. The best set is the Extravagant Bangles.

Monk Maz Koshia

🦩🔯The ancient Sheikah Monk Maz Koshia also enters the battle, and like the Great Fairies, his weapon is a bracelet for his wrist. Equip him with the Bands of Truth for the best results in battle.

Terrako

Terrako is broken 𒁃in the final story mission, but this unlocks Terrako Quests on the overworld map. You can find out how to easily complete them and unlock Terrako here.

Terrako uses familiar Guardian weapons that you will have seen in Breath of the Wild - but you won’t actually be equipping anything to Terrako, they🐎’re already prepared to fight.

Calamity Ganon

Calamity Ganon is unlocked after the main story conclu♛des, and you can found ou🦄t how to unlock him here.

Calamity Ganon is so powerful and🌺 evil that he doesn’t even need a weapon to f꧟ight with. Scary.

Best practice for weapon fusion

When you first earn these weapons their overall power mightℱ actually be lower than what you already have equipped, especially if you’ve been working hard on fusing your weapons so you c🌠an go into battle well-equipped.

Well, you need not fear. The wꦜeapons we’ve listed here will definitely be better than the base weapons you find your characters w🌺ith when they first enter your team, and if you’ve heavily invested in your existing equipment, it hasn’t gone to waste. By fusing your high-level weapon to a low-level weapon, you’ll be transferring a vast majority of the weapon experience you’ve built up. If you’re upgrading a weapon that has a higher attack stat ceiling - the weapons we’ve listed here, basically - you’re guaranteed to find your final weapon fusion far more powerful than what you started with.
