This past week was the DICE Summit in Las Vegas. If you’re not familiar, DICE is a chance for people in the gaming industry to gather to talk about upcoming projects and - you know - also look under seat cushions for funding. It’s all pretty cool, with famous developers and free food and parties and free food and networking and free food and speeches and free food. There were also free drinks in addition to the free food. Really, as someone who doesn’t develop video games, the free food was a huge attraction.

Personally, I was at DICE because I’m lucky enough to write some of the jokes for their awards show. Don’t get me wrong; award shows are hard. You’re basically telling jokes to extremely nervous people who just want to find out if they’re 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:going to the aft♐er-party with a ꦬtrophy or not. Fortunately, we had fant⛄astic hosts. . The gaming industry is sensitive, folks. You rarely get to joke about someone when they’re in the room. An🐻d you even more rarely get to make someone else say it while you hide in the back.

So, yeah, I had a busy DICE Summit. I met some of my heroes. I saw some old friends. I made some new friends. I implied that those new friends should give me writing work because everything in my life since childhood has been transactional. It was productive to say the least. But after spending days with some of the brightest minds in the video game industry, I ca꧙n safely say that the best thing I walked away with was Prima’s Official Strategy Guide for the PlayStation 1 classic, Shadow Madness.

One of the best parts about being at DICE is who you see at events. I mean, it’s rare that you get to be in the same Las Vegas nightclub as industry legends like Todd Howard and Koji Kondo. It’s even rarer that you go to Retro City Games in Henderson, Nevada on the advice of some cool game historians, flip through the store’s hundreds of vintage strategy guides, and then think, “Oh, a Shadow Madness strategy guide!” It’s a game we all know and love so well. I’m sure when I hit that last sentence of the previous paragraph, all your favorite Shadow Madness scenes came t൲o mind. Who can forget what happens in Shadow Madness?

Side note, definitely go to Retro City Games in Henderson, Nevada. This part isn’t a bit. It’s incredible. The employees do this crazy thing where they’re actually glad you’re there and everything is priced to move. So many retro shops seem to want to keep their inventory on the shelf for all eternity by charging $200 for a loose copy of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Mario World. Man, Retro City Games takes care of business. My Shadow Madness guide sticker CLEARLY says $19.99. They charged me $10. A GameCube pinball gam💞e I wanted said $12 on the box. You know what they charged me? Also $10. Hell yeah.

Of course, DICE has far more events than just award shows and after-parties filled with gods mixing with the hoi polloi. There were also panels, talks, and - I’m told - speed networking. That’s right, you can meet business contacts fast! Apparently it’s like speed dating except you only get fucked metaphorically. Unfortunately, I was unable to make business contacts like many of my colleagues for a few ౠreasons. One, I don’t have what I’m told is called a “LinkedIn.” Two, I do have what I’m told is called Prima’s Official Strategy Guide for Shadow Madness. While you were making million dollar deals, I was investigating the best way to get through everyone’s favorite Shadow Madness moment - say it with me - the Hall of Spheres.

There’s also the inspirational aspect of DICE While I’ve talked about seeing famous developers, there were also hundreds of people just breaking into the industry. They’re the stars of tomorrow who will be creating the games we love, whether it be a remake of Shadow Madness or a full sequel to Shadow Madness which may o🦋r may not already exist, I do not know and don’t want to check. Either way, I’ve got Prima’s Official Strategy Guide for Shadow Madness ready to go. I’ꦇll be real honest: I’m not getting through the Gubrath Bog Mazes without it!

This wasn’t my first year writing for the DICE Awards, but it was my first time being able to attend. But just like visiting Gamathel’s Tower Magic Academy, I’m sure to come back time and time again. Also, while writing this I just found out that Shadow Madness is available on Steam, which m🌺eans there’s a 50% chance I’m ac💖tually going to use this thing.
