If you’re like me, you’ve been thinking ‘168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Baldur’s Gate 3 is so good, I want to play more games like Baldur’s Gate 3 – in fact, I want to be playing games like Baldur’s Gate 3 forever.’ I’m here to tell you that, while few RPGs are as good as Baldur’s Gate 3, there are plenty that will scratch a similar itch. One I’ve loved this year (and that hasn’t gotten nearly enough love) is 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Marvel’s Midnight Suns.
I’m 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:on the record of being sick to death of all things MCU, so when I tell you that Marvel’s Midnight Suns is one of the best games of the past few years, I’m not saying it because go ape for capeshit. It’s a great game that got unfairly overlooked because a) people are increasingly sick of superhero stuff — as evidenced by Marvel movies missing the top two spots at the box office in 2022 and 2023 — and b) it launched in December, when voting for many websites and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Game Awards had already concluded, stranding i🐽t in a recognition no man’s land.
That&rsqu🌸o;s a shame because if you enjoy Baldur’s Gate 3 and don’t mind superheroes, Midnight Suns has a lot to offer. In both combat and its focus on building relationships with memorable characters, the two games are operating on similar wavelengths.
Like Baldur’s Gate 3, Midnight Suns has tactical turn-based combat, in which your squad of heroes will face off against a squad of goons. Also like Baldur’s Gate 3, the battlefield isn’t a grid, so it’s a little messier than something like Fire Emblem (taking cues from developer Firaxis’ earlier XCOM games). In fact, 🍒Midnight Suns takes that freedom one step further than BG3, with no limits on how far your character can move at all. That means they can cross the battlefield in a single sprint, but there are limits on how often they can act before your turn ends.
Those limits are represented by card plays because, unlike Baldur’s Gate 3, Midnight Suns uses a deck-building system. As you complete missions, you’ll find objects that Tony Stark and Dr. Strange can study, resulting in more ability cards you can assign to each hero’s deck. It’s trendier than Baldur’s Gate 3’s approach, taking cues from popular games like Slay the Spire, but in practice they aren’t all that different. You can only use the spells you’ve prepar🌺ed in Baldur’s Gate 3 and you can only use the abilities in your hand in Midnight Suns.
The basics feel similar, with a focus on moving your characters around the battlefield, pushing enemies around, and using the environment to your advantage. Both games even have exploding barrels. The shove is even mightier in Midnight Suns, as it has a 100 percent chance of success and plays a huge role in solving the complex geometry problem that is winni🌄ng a fight.
For anyone drawing fan art of Shadowheart or Wyll, Midnight Suns has you covered on the relationship front — though the ones here are mostl♊y platonic. ✅Don’t expect a sex scene between your character and Wolverine. Romance aside, it is equally focused on relationships, with all the heroes living in an old, cozy mansion together. That’s where you call home between missions, and after a battle you have the opportunity to hang out with any of the heroes on your team. You can watch movies with Spider-Man, go fishing with Blade, or hang out by the pool with Scarlet Witch. Plus, you can boost friendships with compliments and gifts. It’s as focused on socializing as it is on superpowers.
The only downside is that very few games can live up to being compared to Baldur’💝s Gate 3, and Midnight Suns is no exception. The writing is quippier and cornier, and if you’re sick of the MCU’s sense of humor, this mig🃏ht poke the same sore spot. But the protagonist, the Hunter, is so sincere that it makes the jokey tone easier to take. At least, it has for me. I’m having an Eldritch blast.
