Although the recently announced DiRT 5 will feature the legendary voice o🦋f Tony Baker, there is another racing game that comes out before the fifth iteration of the rally racer that will probably be better suited for most casual gamers’ time: Inertial Drift.
Sure, DiRT 5 will be enjoyed by the players who already like the series🙈, but like every other 🌼major sports title - namely the annual full-priced releases of NBA 2K and Madden NFL - what really is it going to have to bring in and offer new players to the franchise? Probably not much. Mostly, the brief amount of footage we’ve seen so far - coupled with the f📖act that the game will be on Xbox Series X (and likely P𒁃layStation 5) - suggests that it will be the best-looking game in the franchise with plenty of modes, both new and old, for racing enthusiasts to tak🌠e part in.
How does Inertial Drift differ? Well, pretty in every way. Inertial Drift that the game ꧃“tears up the racing rule book with completely re-imagined driving mechanics.” Clearly, racing sim this is not.
Unique twin-stick controls will maneuver players’ cars (of which there are 16) throughout the 20 different serpentining tracks of the game, which include bustling city streets, rural temple complexes, and steep mountain passes. The cel-shaded art🎉 style also stands out from a typical racing sim, giving it a bit lighter of a feeling in its general tone. Loca🌱l multiplayer will also be available, but no word yet on whether online multiplayer will be a feature.
Normal racing sims can often be overwhelming and unwelcoming t♔o players unfamiliar with the inner workings of cars or racing in general. Inertial Drift appears to be a bit more accessible to anyone who just wants𝓡 to have a fun time racing. DiRT 5 will likely aꦉlso have a steeper learning curve to be꧒ genuinely skilled at, whereas Inertial Drift looks to have a bit more pick-up-and-play potential after spending🍨 a few minutes getting a feel for the controls.
There is little doubt that DiRT 5 will live🅺 up to expectations for its intended audience. For gꦗearheads and racing sim enthusiasts, DiRT 5 is the obvious choice. For everyone else, Inertial Drift will more than likely satisfy your drift-based racing desiresﷺ.
Inertial Drift 𓂃is slated to be released on August 7th for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
