VMAX Climax, the next Japanese 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokemon TCG expansion, has been shown off, confirming the return of Character Rares and the chunk that is the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pikachu VMAX everybody loves.
Unveiled at this weekend's Koto Champions League, VMAX Climax is a reprint set that brings together a lot of the most special cards from recent Sword & Shield expansions like Vivid Voltage, Battle Styles and Chilling Reign. Though some are straight reprints, like Battle Style's two Urshifu VMAX, some are receiving new art (Rayquaza VMAX and Duraludon VMAX being two).
More interestingly, the return of 'Character Rares' has been confirmed. Character rares are an alternate art reprints that feature the Pokemon with a trainer in the Pokemon canon who is famous for being its trainer. According to , five have been confirmed: Eevee from Evolving Skies and Bill, Flaaffy from Evolving Skies and Elesa, Zekrom from Vivid Voltage and N, and Gardevoir from Chilling Reign with a Galarian Doctor.
The last is a 'Character Super Rare', a new rarity that so far only includes Pikachu VMAX from Vivid Voltage and the game's most famous trainer, Red. The entire set hasn't been revealed yet, though, meaning we could see more Character Super Rares as time goes on.
VMAX Climax is a collector-focused product, and so each pack is bigger than normal (11 over the usual five in a Japanese booster pack), and will include a guaranteed V, VMAX, V-UNION or secret rare card.
As there is usually a difference between sets released in Japan, Korea and China and those released internationally, the rest of the world is unlikely to get VMAX Climax. However, while the sets are different, the cards are mostly the same, meaning we are likely to see these released as secret rares in different future expansions. For example, Japan's Eevee Heroes cards were later released in English as part of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Evolving Skies.
The release date for VMAX Climax is December 3, ༒2021, and it will contain 184 cards (mostly reprints) in total.
