It’s rare that professional wrestling leaves me speechless nowadays. Despite entering a new era after 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Cody Rhodes finished his story and won the title at 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:WrestleMania 40, WWE doesn’t like to take unnecessary risks. It sticks to tried-ꩲand-true stars, big merch sellers, and loves to go in the opposite direction of fan desires when it comes to pushing deserving talent. Under the right circumstances, however, the company is still capable of absolute magic.
This weekend at the Elimination Chamber, it conjured up just that. After surviving the Chamber and punching his ticket to the main event of WrestleMania, John Cena was joined in the ring by Rhodes and The Rock in a segment that will go down in wrestling history. Over the past couple of weeks, Rhodes has been weighing⭕ up whether he wants to sell his soul to The Rock in exchange for unlimited power. Yes, it’s really silly, but wrestling is at its best when it’s a glorified anime soap opera, so just roll with it.
Nobody Could Have Seen John Cena’s Heel Turn Coming
Rhodes not only rejects The Rock’s offer, he tells the most electrifying man in entertainment to go f**k himself. The swear itself isn’t censored, which speaks to the impact WWE wants it and the decisions that follow to have. After embracing Cena for what he expects to be a well-deserved celebration, The Man Who Cannot Be Seen kicks Rhodes in the nuts and starts to mercilessly beat him down with a Rolex, the title, and even choking him out with the tie snug around his neck. It is hard to watch, and not just because of the bloody violence, but the two decades of unsure anticipation this moment represents. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:We never thought it would happen.
Travis Scott was also there for some reason.
John Cena has always be🌳en a good guy in wrestling. While he began his career as the foul-mouthed Doctor of Thuganomics who rapped away at his opponents before beating the crud out of them, 🉐this schtick is what made him beloved in the eyes of fans. He represented what would become the new generation, a cool and edgy attitude that felt like a worthy substitute for the fading Attitude Era.
But as the years progressed and wrestling changed, Cena came out on top so often, usually to the detriment of fellow wrestlers and storylines, that people began to turn against him. Cheers turned ꧂into boos and remained until Cena left WWE behind for good.
When he returned as aꦜ part-timer, fans began to realise they didn’t appreciate Cena during his prime, and now his time as a full-time wrestler has entered its very last year.
And It’s The Boldest Thing WWE Has Done In Years
Cena became a company mascot who developed a reputation for granting the last wishes of dying 🐬children, donning brightly coloured shirts as he s🥃tarred on the front of cereal boxes, constantly peddling his mantra of Hustle, Loyalty, and Respect. His last year as a wrestler could have seen him ride that line with ease and leave as the god he has long become in the eyes of the faithful, but instead of that, he’s becoming a villain for the first time ever.
In wrestling terms, ‘Babyface’ is what you call a hero, while ‘Heeಞl’ is the word used for villains. When I say, ‘John Cena has turned Heel,’ it pretty much means he’s a bad guy now.
What makes this heel turn so wonderful is that we have pivoted back 🔴to loving Cena again. I think he is a living legend without equal꧟, but his natural heroism means cheering him on in this final run came with an aura of predictability. But turning him into a villain where he would rather crush the dreams of dying children than fulfill them has me jumping around in delight over the sheer potential of it all. WWE has turned our messiah into a monster.
Hee𝕴l Cena is likely going to beat Cody Rhodes when WrestleMania rolls around and spend the rest of the year as champion, leaving the good guys to do everything in t🌺heir power to bring him back from the brink. What I really want to see is Cena face off against rivals from his past and present, as well as WWE’s future as he realises the errors of his ways.
Perhaps his final match in the company will be ag🍷ainst The Rock as he takes revenge against the man who manipulated him to join the dark side in the first place. John Cena has become Hollywood Cena, the very monster that he once claimed to stand against. When you break it down, it all makes perfect senseཧ.
My dream match is CM Punk vs John Cena for the WWE Champ♉ionship. The duo has so much natural chemistry and so much history that Punk is the only opponent that could make sure Cena comes to his senses. It would also be absolute magic to watch.
Ever since John Cena announced his retirement tour, he has only made a single appearance at the Royal Rumble back in February, and since then hasn’t shown his face on Smackdown or Raw once. This is obviouꦯsly because of his busy schedule as an actor, but in the context of an evolving story where he neglects wrestling and becomes a sinister villain, it all lines up perfectly.
He doesn’t care about the fans, and h♓e’s willing to destroy people like Cody Rhodes who do if they dare stand in the way of him becoming WWE Champion for a record 17th time. I’ve no idea where this heel turn might take us, but I do know it’s going to change the landscape of wrestling forever. In fact, it already has.
