fans have discovered that one of the Joker's brutalities in allows us to hear what each fighter's final words would be.
Throughout the Mortal Kombat series, we've seen a seemingly endless number of ways that its beloved characters can be killed off thanks to Fatalities, Brutalities, Hara-Kiri, and Animalities. As many deaths as we've seen, though, we usually don't get to hear anything from the fighter about to be killed, leaving things a little lighter than if we suddenly heard Johnny Cage express regret for his actions or Raiden beg for his life.
That sounds really depressing, so it's probably for the best that most Fatalities are focused more on crunching bones and squishy organs. As it turns out, though, there is actually a way in Mortal Kombat 11 to hear what each character's final words would be. and, beyond being fittingly, well, brutal, it also has a unique voice line attached to each character's death.
The Brutality in question is called "Batter Up" and is basically an extended version of Joker's Birdboy Beatdown special move. When the Brutality is performed, Joker says "Smile!" before hitting the other fighter, who has a few seconds to get one last phrase out before they die. , some of them can be quite funny, like Johnny Cage's, and others are a little depressing.
Let's start off with some of the fun ones. Fittingly, Johnny Cage's final words are apparently "not the face", while Kano's is a simple "bugger". Then we have Cassie Cage, who just utters "**** you" before death, which is a phrase that she shares with Frost. Erron Black just seems a little shocked to be killed, uttering "awh hell" before death, and if Joker fights himself then he gets a high-pitched "mommy" as his final words.
As for the depressing ones, we've got Sindel begging her mother for help, D'Vorah saying "free me" like she's totally fine with death, Kung Lao begging for his life, and Kuai Liang saying "finally" before death. Looks like a fair few fighters on the Mortal Kombat roster are just happy for it all to be over, and that's exactly why I'm fine not hearing them respond to their death.
, there are a few weird exceptions. Nightwolf, Shang Tsung, and The Terminator all won't say anything when the Brutality is used against them, and there's not a clear reason why. My headcanon is that they're all just sick of Joker's shit.
