This list follows a simple set of rule🌃s for the cons⭕ideration of the games that follow. Anything from 100 to 75 are considered to be amazing and or great games. Once it dips into the yellow, well, that’s where opinions start to clash. That is where this article comes in.
There𝄹 may be something incredibly🧔 wrong with these games that stop them from being popular among huge swathes of gamers. It could be the story, gameplay, or whatever. Sometimes a niche idea is just too wild for some to accept. Whatever the case may be, high scores, or low scores, these ten games are definitely worth a second look.
10 Valkyria Revolution (56)
This score is based off of the Xbox One version while the PS4 edition received a slightly lower aggregate of 54. While the game is indeed rough around the edges, there a reason why it scored so low, which is fan expectations. Prior to this 2017 release, 2010’s Valkyria Chronicles II was the last new game the West would receive as they were skipped the privilege of the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:third game. So for the series to come back as a Dynasty Warriors-like brawler, well, 💦it is plain to see some didn’t find the departure from the strategy RPG genre fitting.
9 The Legend of Legacy (67)
The Legend of Legacy was like a spiritual successor to the SaGa games made for the 3DS. For those unfamiliar, what made those games so unique is that characters wouldn’t level up traditionally with experience points. Stats instead would increase from prolonged use. Get hit a lot and defense and HP could go up for example. The odd mechanics and high difficulty without a proper story made this one hard to get into for some, but for SaGa fans, it was a good reacquaintance.
8 Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories (68)
This was th💜e PS2 remake of the original Game Boy Advance release from 2004. While it improved a lot from that game like adding more story and having actual voice acting, there is a big reas꧑on why it didn’t review that well. Coming right off the heels of , it was seen as a lesser title and a backwards step overall even though, again, it was a remake.
7 Nier (68)
This score is based off of the PS3 version while the Xbox 360 edition got a slightly lower score of 67. NieR: Automata was a big hit among fans and reviewers alike and there is a big difference between the two entries: combat. The most unique thing about the original was the story, but the gameplay and graphics were lacking. Seeing it ꦍthrough to the end then was a trial as it took multiple times.
6 Final Fantasy Type-0 HD (72)
The PS4 and Xbox One versions both got a 72 while PC reviews rounded out to a 69. The original version of the game launched on the PSP in 2011 for Japan. North America would not get to play it until this version, fou♋r years later in 2015.
The best edition to this was the included demo of Final Fantasy XV, whic🐈h was the bigger deal. Demo aside, the action is sound if not a bit repetiti🐻ve as well as the camera being blurry.
5 Fantasy Life (73)
Fantasy Life allowed players to craft an RPG experience to their liking. Want to be a warrior and travel the land 🎀in search of adventure? That was an option❀. Want to be a tailor instead, making clothes and armor for the town?
That too was an optioꦫn. From swordsman to seamstresses, there was a class for every RPG fan out there. Doing menial tasks could get monotonous for some, but this blend of𓆉 RPGs and life simulators was good for those looking for that particular niche.
4 Wild Arms Alter Code: F (73)
This is actually a remake of the original Wild Arms from the PS1. That game was a pretty basic RPG but what made it special was the Western theme. After Final Fantasy VII’s launch, all RPGs on the system prior to that, like Wild Arms, were then looked down upon. ꦛSome of that prejudice might might have boiled over into these reviews. The core game hasn’t changed, but this remake does have a few quality of life improvements, which make it the better of the two versions.
3 Xenosaga Episode II: Jenseits von Gutಞ und ൲Bose (73)
Speaking of changes, Xenosaga Episode II disgruntled a few with this sequel. Theꩲ simple, but robust turn-based RPG system was dialed up to a hundred. That is to say this game was much harder and more obtuse to follow. It needlessly complicated things, which is what most fans and reviewers alike docked it for. The story, characters, and music were all redeeming qualities though.
2 Star Ocean: First Departure (74)
This one is interesting considering this PSP remake is the first time the game was officially made availab🅠le in the West. Prior to this 2008 release, the second and third games did come out in North America.
Another odd note for this action RPG, which bears many gameplay similarities to the older Tales games, is that the 2019 remake, Star Ocean: First Departure R, received very similar rev🎃iews. It got a 74 on Switch and a 73 on PS4. The point is across decades this game holds up, but for a very specific number.
1 The Legend of Dragoon (74)
For an internally made Sony RPG, this has strangely not received much love. Perhaps that one point away from the green zone has really hurt its reputation over the years. It almost got a sequel, but little work was done before it was scrapped. Since the original release on PS1 it jumped onto PSN for PS3, PSP, and PS Vita compatibility which is better than nothing, but fans are hungry for more. Rumors have been flying around💧 about a remake in the works via BluePoint Games. The has seemingly been disproven by now, but there is still hope for fans.
