Christofer Sundberg, founder and former Chief Creative Officer of Avalanche Studios, today announced a new studio – Liquid Swords. Sundberg was the creator of the Just Cause franchise, and it seems his new company will be creating similar experiences that are focused on "high action and giant spe💃ctacle."

Liquid Swords is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden and consists of numerous industry veterans beyond Sundberg. Its doesn't give any names – nor does its – but it's clear the team is ready to get the ball rolling. "Our swords are sharpened, ou🎃r mission is set, and we could not be more excited about what the future holds," said Sundberg.

He continues, "After living and breathing the Just Cause franchise from the day I started Avalanche Studios to the eventual sale of the company, I am excited to come back and create spectacular experiences for players to exploꩵre, share, and enjoy." Apparently, Liquid Swords isn't interested in reshaping "the world of storytelling," – instead, it'll focus on crafting titles that are constantly rewarding and instantly accessible to all players. Sundberg had success with this formula in Just Cause, and we're curious to see what the team cooks up at Liquid Swords.

In 2018, Avalanche Studios was acquired by Nordisk Film for $114 million. Shortly after the acquisition, Sundberg took a sabbatical and stepped away from the industry. Now,  he's ready to get back 🌺in the game – and what better way than to create a brand-new studio?

The Just Cau♔se series shipped over 15 millions copies across four games. It's latest entry, Just Cause 4, released in 2018 to mixed reviews. While it pꦅrovided you with plenty of options for mayhem, it was a bit rough around the edges and featured a lackluster story. Still, Just Cause is a unique game on the market, more interested in high-flying antics than telling a nuanced story. Expect to see more of the same when Liquid Swords announces its first title.
