Hey, everyone. Gather around. We haven’t talked for a few days. I can see everyone’s being really normal about 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Suicide Squad. Some people don’t like it. Some other people are extremely mad at the first group who don't like it. And one refrain I’ve seen repeated is that the video game media is conspiring to ruin the game for [insert reasons] and that everyo💧ne has to present receipts and c𒊎lips and screenshots to prove why it’s actually the best live-service game to 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:ever crash in the first hour. As with any major release, fans 𓆏are convinced they must die in battle defending a poorly-reviewed game or their world is l🌜ost.

But I’ve got some good news for you. I just had a conversation with God and all the angels and after reviewing the tapes, we have come to the conclusion that you do not have to justify enjoying poorly reviewed games. Or generally disliked games. Or games that you know are bad but you want to play anyway. You don’t need to justify enjoying a game to anybody and - here’s the rub - they don’t need to justify to you not enjoying t🍌hem. You know why? Get a little closer. Are you listening? Here’s the secret: None of it matters.

If you love Batman, you probably love a story about Batman🦄 dying already.

Look, you’re absolutely allowed to post and talk about games you like! You should! And you’re absolutely allowed to justify liking something that’s popular to dislike. But I want to be clear that, according to the rulebook, you don’t have to. Nobody is watching you to make sure you’re a real fan. You’re allowed to like a game other people dislike. If a gameplay mechanic or 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:a design decision or 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:killing off a certain character bothers other people but 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:does not bother you꧒? Fantastic! It’s great seeing something in a game that other people have dismissed. I’m not being sarcastic. I know🌊 this feeling well.

I collect bad games. I don’t mean metaphorically; I mean I literally have plastic bins full 💎of terrible games ranging from Superman 64 to multiple Garfield titles across video game Garfield history. Part of the reason is that I sometimes travel with a comedy show where comedians play bad games live in front of audiences. It’s a bit like streaming, but in person and with fewer people just spamming racial slurs in the comments. But the other part of the reason that I collect bad games is that, sometimes, I genuinely enjoy them.

Nor do I mean those games are ‘so bad it’s good’. They’re bad games. I just happen to enjoy seeing the seams. I’ve written a few times about loving the original 🔯Game Boy port of Mortal Kombat despite it being absolutely awful. But I enjoy feeling like the developers shoved as much as they could into a little handheld. I enjoy thinking about the design decisions on what ꦗneeded to be cut or what they didn’t have the budget for. I recognize this sounds like absolutely bonkers behavior, but it’s fun to me. Where’s Waldo o💖n the NES is truly awful. It’s also fun to think about it being made and, yes, find Waldo.

And repeatedly playing bad games has made it easier to see the good in medioc💛re ones. It helps me find the love a bit better. It doesn’t mean I’m good with game companies doing whatever they want. But I also understand that making good art isn’t easy. I’ve worked on a lot of things that didn’t turn out the way I hoped. And I’ve wished that some things I꧙ made got a better chance than those things got. It’s hard, and I feel for developers who miss the target.

Note: Other than the developers of The Day Before, who 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:wrote a ꦆmissive to the “haters” and then 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:immediately shut down their company, like, a week later.

Which is all to say that you don’t need to justify enjoying something. And you really don’t need to get mad at other people online for them not liking something. None of us are ever going to like the same things. There are articles on this very site that have made me think, Tim Robinson-style, “Are you sure about that?” But I’m also an adult with dignity and self-respect. Okay, fine, at the very least I’m an adult. Just because other writers don’t like one thing I like doesn’t mean it’s a dire international emergency. And if they do like something I don’t? Also not an attack on my family. It’s just t🧸he human condition.

I agree it’s annoying when previews and reviews for a new game aren’t what you were expecting or seem to have lost the thread. Especially when it’s coming from professional game reviewers who you perceive as liking games less or, worse, differently than you. But those are just people. I can guarantee you that almost nobody reviewing Suicide Squad or 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Persona 3 Reload or 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth or any o♐ther game coming out soon is giving it a good or bad score for their own personal benefit. Trust me, I’ve seen the lives of professional game reviewers. It ain’t pretty, folks.

On the other hand, you don’t need to listen to them! You think that the gameplay is much better than they said? Great! You believe someone ragging on the story missed the entire point? Awesome! You hope that upcoming patches will improve the experience? That’s certainly happened before! You don’t need to think some random person online is at war with you because they don’ඣt like something you like. You don’t need to go after them. And you certainly don’t need to prove to them why they’re stupid. Just let them be stupid! There are bigger problems going on in the world. If you enjoy it, enjoy it. Nobody can tell you otherwise. There’s no need to be mad. There’s no need to troll people. There’s no need to post receipts. Maybe instead take all that time and enjoy the game.
