Over the course of this year's season, the L.A. Gladiators have, 🐼by most viewers' estimation, generally not lived up to their potential. Their off-tank Space is considered one of the best in the league at his position, while his tank partner OGE can, on a good day, perform at nearly the same level. Despite their all-star tank line and a couple other high level players like Birdring on DPS, the Gladiators are currently ranked in the bottom half of tꦺeams, albeit at the top of that bottom half, with the only net zero map differential in the league. The team looks to change course, however, with the signing of Contenders DPS all-star Kevster, which was  earlier this week.

Kevster most recently made a name for hi🦄mself as a top level DPS player as a member of Team Doge, who won Week 3 of this season of North American Contenders, as well as Fran's Community Cup, which was a community-organized tournament meant to showcase talent outside of the Overwatch League.

Prior to helping lead Team Doge to its key victories, Kevster was signed to Team Envy, the long-running U.S.-based Overwatch team 🐽that, when it was known as EnVyUs, was once considered the best in the game. The team's dissolution earlier this year led to Kevster and all of his teammate's transfer to Doge. Even before that, Kevster was a member of NRG Esports, the San Francisco Shock-owning organization's Contenders team, which was similarly broken up while he counted himself a member of its roster.

As a member of the Gladiators, Kevster will most likely be Birdring's almost-full time if not entirely full time DPS partner. Their DPS counterparts on the Gladiators roster, Mirror and Jaru, cover a wide enough hero pool to complement Birdring's, but each 🙈have yet to reach a consistent enough level of play to fill that role to a level that would allow the Gladiators to contend for this year's cham🌳pionship.

While no one player is a guaranteed ticket to the playoffs, or even a guaranteed upgrade, if any single addition to the Gladiators could significantly increase their odds of climbing the ranks, it's Kevster's. Player reactions to the Twitter announcement include, among others of a similar sentiment, Valiant oꦅff-tank McGravy "Kevster is a certified nutcase, big pickup" and Eternal main tank BenBest simply "Now im scared."

The Gladiato🌜rs next match, and Kevster's likely debut, will be against the Houston Outlaws on June 20t꧑h at 4:00 p.m. PST.
