I’ve long bemoaned the fact that I don’t have enough time for 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Warhammer battles. When I was a teenager, I’d take over my mum’s dining table for a day – or her living room f♓loor for an entire weekend – sorry, mum! – to play toy soldiers with my friends. It was the perfect way to spend a weekend before we discovered beer. Nowadays, though, I’ve got better things to do.
Firstly, I have to pay my own way now. I have rent due a𓂃nd bill🍎s shooting through my letterbox, so I simply don’t have the disposable income to buy massive Warhammer armies any more.
Even if I did earn enough to fritter away hundreds (more) pounds on plastic warriors, where would I put them? I no longer have my mum’s garage, my mum’s spare room, and my mum’s cupboards to store my armies. My kitchen cupboards are filled with my own plates now, and there’s no space to cram in a Dreadnought or nine. Well, maybe 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:an Epic-scaled Dreadnought army would fit…
Aside from the cost and space issues, I’m a very time-poor adult. I have a full-time job (ironically partially writing about the little plastic figures I can’t keep on top of) and a family, and balancing those with🉐 all my hobbies is a constant struggle. I’m a man with varied interests, which doesn’t help.
If I was a single-minded Warhammer Enjoyer (men only ever think about one thing etc. etc.), I’d have more time for battling. As it is, the couple of hours after my 🦋daughter goes to bed are split between painting models, playing games (both tabletop꧙ and video), watching football, playing football, jamming with friends, going to gigs, watching films, visiting family, writing recreationally, and cooking.
Weekends are mostly spent with my daughter doing things that toddle🐬rs are interested in (read: not Warhammer🍰, for now), and I wouldn’t change that for the world. Tell me where I’m fitting in five-hour Warhammer battles among all this.
Enter Kill Team. Its battles of squad-based combat are smaller, shorter, and seemingly better in every way for time-poor but hobby-loving adults like me. Not only do you get two small forces of awesome models (the plastic Striking Scorpions are my favourite so far, but the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Night Lords upgrade sprue is a close contender), but enough terrain to populate a small board. Everything you need is in the box, perfect for splitting with a ꦕfriend and getting down to business.
Painting one squad is obviously faster than painting an entire army, but it’s more fun, too. I spend far more time on each m♕odel, enjoying bringing them to life with their own individual characters.
I’ll never forget my 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Striking Scorpion Exarch waiting in the shadows♎, before springing a perfect ambush to annihilate an opponent’s key metla gunner. Rest in peace, Derek, you won’t be missed by the Aeldari.
I haven’t painted my Night Lords yet, but you bet I’ll be attempting to freehand lightning bolts on their shoulder pads, something that I’d inevitably avoid if I had to paint 5🐻0 of them for a larger force. Pushing yourself is how you improve, but that’s difficult to do when you’re batch painting.
Kill Team is more enjoyable than 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Warhammer 40,000, for me at least, on every possible level. You get exciting new sculpts (Drukhari Mandrakes, anyone?) that you can paint lovingly to create a compact force. Matches are quicker, and Kill Team even embraces some light RPG elements to breathe yet more life into your individual models. With each model representing a ch🥀aracter, have fun naming them and then crying into your Nuln Oilspill as they die a brutal, XCOM-like death at the hands of their own overheating Plasma Gun.
If you find the time for full Warhammer 40,000 battles in your adult life, good for you. I’m not a hardcore tournament player, and I never will be, but I know many people who enjoy that life. If you’re more of a casuꦫal player, a painting enjoyer, a multi-hobbier, or a parent, however, Ki✅ll Team is the game for you.
