168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Suicide Squad: Kill 𝕴the Justice League has been controversial for almost as long as it has existed. Though hot in the headlines now as it arrives at our thumbs, each new reveal (and leak) for the game brought with it a new wave of discourse. There has been so much of it, and so consistently, that all of the discussion around this game's child version of Poison Ivy has gotten out of the way before it launched, and now there are far more controversial issues to dig into. But having played through the game myself now, I've circled back around to my disappointment in Kill the Justice League's Poison Ivy.
She represents everything wrong with setting this game in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Rocksteady’s Arkham universe. Firstly, she died in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Arkham Knight - that's quite a big roadblock to her coming back here. When she does, the game riffs on her relationship with Harley Quinn, and while it's fuzzy on the details (and unclear whether this was romantic or platonic), it's hard to square this with the Arkham series. It's building on the connection the duo have in The Animated Series or The Harley Quinn Show, and feels out of place.

Suicide Squad Just Perfectlyꦍ Demonstrated Why Paid Early Access Must Die
For publishers, these deluxe editi♏ons are a win/win. They get to charge a premium for new games, and customers will thank them for the opportunity.
The whole game feels out of place this way. This Harley is way more likeable and relatable than Arkham's Harley, who had a twisted obsession with Joker and once tortured a child. If we accept this is Arkham Harley, we not only absolve her of most of her sins in displaying her as a hero without atonement, we also skip over her most interesting character development. There is no suggestion of how Arkham Knight's Harley became the one we see before us. The characters are the best part of Kill the Justice League, so I can get over Harley (and Deadshot) not particularly lining up with a series that last had an entry in 2015, but when nothing lines up, it begs the question of 'why'.
The Ivy We Have Now
This new character just isn't much like Poison Ivy, either. She's not just a new interpretation (the aforementioned Harley Quinn Show does that successfully), it's a completely different person. Clearly not wanting to explore the sensuous side of Poison Ivy as a maneater who seduces foes to her doom, they instead make her a child. This has resulted in fans on both sides of the fence calling the other side paedophiles, in what is the most ridiculous debate this game has had yet; and it faces stiff competition there.
No, , and while I do think Ivy's pheromones remembering Harley feels a little weird, that's more to do with Ivy's history and the connection previous characters have made between plant pheromones and sexual chemistry than anything else. Likewise, those - they are not asking for a more attractive child but for a full-grown attractive adult who is not a child at all.
And The Ivys We Had In Arkham And Injustice
Poison Ivy has always been a beautiful woman with flowing red hair, and in an era where video game faces weren't quite there yet, Arkham's Ivy was ahead of her time. Having her be reborn as a child feels like a cop out that tramples on her death to create an entirely different, less interesting version of the character. In a game where a major plot beat hinges on Harley grabbing Deadshot's ass without consent, this rejection of sex appeal in Poison Ivy's design doesn't fit with the classic edginess of these characters. It's also illogical for her to be nine when Ivy canonically died five years ago. Gamers are scattergunning for things to be mad about in this game, but here, they might have sprayed bullets at the target.
It can be important sometimes to take a breath. Wanting beautiful people in a video game doesn't make you a bad person, and likewise developers not making a certain character into a beautiful person doesn't mean they have an agenda. With Toyman in the game and a plot hole caused by Ivy's death, bringing her back as a child might have simply been the most effective solution and an opportunity to do something new. That's probably all there is to it. Unfortunately, Ivy is a swing and a miss in a game where the characters are the only thing getting on base.
This game's strange interpretation of Poison Ivy is a whiff, and not just because of those plant pheromones. Whether it's to rebel against her tropes, fit with the rest of the cast, or just get around the fact she died in the last game that feels barely related anyway, Poison Ivy feels like the weed in this cast's garden.
