Summary

  • Killzone developer Guerrilla Games has claimed that it's now "done" with the series following its shift to Horizon.
  • Following the release of Killzone: Shadowfall, the studio wanted to make something completely different to the series in an effort to "refresh the palette".
  • This doesn't mean Killzone is dead, just that we probably won't get one from Guerrilla. Yes, I know I'm coping.

Killzone is just one of the many franchises that 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:PlayStation has locked away in a big vault, right next to the likes of Jak & Daxter, Infamous, and Sly Cooper, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:never ag♌ain to be rescued from the PS3. Despite the company's insistence on chasing the live service gray train (168澳洲幸运5开奖网:disastrously in some cases), not on🅠ce has🌺 PlayStation ever looked like it wanted to pull its established FPS series Killzone out of storage and give it another spin.

Even original developer Guerrilla Games - which has moved onto bigger and better things with the Horizon series - hasn't given any indication that it wants to work on a brand-new entry to the series, and it seems like the studio is happy to leave Killzone behind for good. In a recent interview with (thanks ) concerning the upcoming release of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Lego Horizon Adventures, art director Roy Postma claimed that Guerrilla is "done" with Killzone🎀 as a team.

Spea🗹king about the Horizon series from an artistic standpoint, Postma explains that Guerrilla wanted to make something that was the complete opposite to Killzone in terms of tone and story, which then led to the creation of Horizon Zero Dawn.

"We were done with it [Killzone] as a team," says Postma. "As a studio, we needed to refresh the palette. It was, by choice, the🍷 opposite of Killzone. I think the themes that this story and the characters represent are r🍒elatable for all ages and people, like having a found family of friends and finding your place in the world."

Of course, this doesn't mean Killzone is completely dead as a series, just that we're almost definitely not getting a new one from Guerrilla Games any time soon. PlayStation has plenty of studios that have experience with first-person shooters, as well as the likes of Bungie t🎃o oversee things. There's always a chance the franchise could get shifted onto another developer while Guerrilla focuses on Horizoꦺn.

We know that Guerrilla is all in on Horizon too, with both the Horizon Zero Dawn remaster releasing at the end of the month, and Lego Horizon Adventures releasing in November. We also know that the studio is 168🌳澳洲幸运5开奖网:working on a multiplayer Horizon spin-off, which is strongly rumored to be an MMO, so there's plenty for Guerrilla to be working on. Too much to worry 🥀about reviving Killzone, at any rate.
