As part of ' 20th-anniversary celebration event, has announced that Kingdom Hearts 4 is officially in development with a trailer that shows Sora in Quadratum.
The Kingdom Hearts 20th-anniversary event has just concluded in Tokyo, and audience members were shown a reveal trail💧er for Kingdom Hearts 4. That trailer has since been released to the public and it shows a very different direction for the series, at least from what we know so far.
The trailer shows Sora in a city that has been confirmed to be Quadratum, the hometown of Yozora. Sora is seen with a completely new design, lookinꦜg much more realistic thꦓan he did in other Kingdom Hearts games. Sora runs into a character that appears to be Strelitzia from Uniox X, who informs him that Quadratum is like the afterworld, at least for the two of them.
Sora is then shown running through the city after a large Heartless resembling Darkside sud🌠denly appears out of nowhere. After summo🐻ning his Keyblade, Sora takes on the Darkside in what looks to be early gameplay footage, where Sora is shown using Keyblade Transformation-esque abilities (although notably only with the Kingdom Key) against the Darkside.
As Sora fights the Darkside, the camera pans up to reveal two hooded figures, which are presumably the Master of Masters and Xigbar, who was shown to be a vessel for the Master's apprentice Luxu at the end of Kingdom Hearts 3. The trailer ends by showing Donald and Goofy exploring a cave, presumably looking for a way to find Sora, who disappeared following the events of Kingdom Hearts 3. Donald and Goofy see a blue light that very likely belongs to Hades, before it turns red and the two scream.
There was no release window attachedﷺ to the trailer. Instead, "Magic in the Making" was shown at the end. It beats "Now in Development" ✃at least.
, Nomura chose to make Kingdom Hearts 4 instead of a Verum Rex game. During the evenౠt, Nomura said, "I was wondering ❀whether to make KH4 or Verum Rex, but I decided to go to KH4 because I would be worried about Sora."
