To help make this decision easier, we've outlined the release order, chronological order, and our opinion on the 'best' order to play the games in. While we don't recommend playing the games in chronological order the first time you play, we've included this order in case you still want to, or if you've played them before and want to go through them again.

358/2 Days, Coded, and Kingdom Hearts X are replaced with cutscene movies in Kingdom Hearts H🔯D 1.5 + 2.5 R🌄eMIX, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and the All-in-One Package.

358/2 Days and Coded are still available as Nintendo DS games, but Kingdꦑom Hearts X and Kingdom Hearts Union X are no longer available to play.

The Best Order To Play Kingdom Hearts

Sora in Kingdom Hearts 3 Quadratum secret ending

While Square Enix has officially said that there isn't a "correct" way to play the series, we can definitely recommend the best order to give you the best experiꦐence when playing the games for the first time.

Our recommended order is fairly similar to release order, with one notable exception. We recommend playing or watching 358/2 Days before Kingdom Hearts 2. A few of𓃲 the story beats in Kingdom Hearts 2 will be more impactful if you have already played or wat𝔍ched 358/2 Days.

However, if you'd prefer to start Kingdom Hearts 2 with more mystery, the same way people would have played it at launch in 2005, you can play Kingdom Hearts 2 first.

If you bought the Kingdom Hearts All-in-One Package, the games included in it will already be presented in this 𓂃order, which makes things ꩵmuch easier.

Kingdom Hearts: Union X isn't included in it, though, so you would need to seek this out separately.

While the cutscene movie version o🙈f 358/2 Days is serviceable, it cuts out a lot of the original game, so we also recommend seeking out the original Nintendo DS game and playing this version if you can.
