Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning launched over eight years ago. It was an ambitious project that yielded some noteworthy praise but not enough to keep the train rolling. There were plans for an MMO, Project Copernicus, but due to many factors, it was canceled. 🔴The story of its creation and afte♒rmath are fascinating.

Take a look at this breakdown from 2013 from the for more information. The main point now is that the game has returned from the dead with some new additions. Is it🌺 enough to hook new players and old fans alike? The answer is mixed. There are some things the game does right and others that could still use some work. Let's break them down.

10 Best: Diverse Weapons

This is a screenshot of the player in combat from Kingdoms of Amalur-Re-Reckoning.

There are nine weapon types in the game: Staves, Chakrams, Sceptres, Longswords, Hammers, Daggers, Greatswords, Longbows, and Faeblades. There are no classes so weapons sort of stand in for that typical role. The amount of combos one can create, because there are two weapon slots mapped to buttons, is staggering. From a giant hammer to the long-distance throwing blades 𓄧of the Chakram, there is enough variety for all types of players.

9 Worst: Character Customization

This is an in-game menu screenshot from Kingdoms of Amalur-Re-Reckoning.

Per gender, there are only five presets in the game. After that initial setup, there are more ways to customize characters but it is not the wealth of options available 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:in modern RPGs. Implementing a new system into a remaster would have been understandably ha♔rd. That said, it is still a gripe worth noting.

8 Best: Colorful

Compared to a contemporary RPG at the time, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:like Fallout 3 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Kingdoms of Amalur is a colorful experience. From dripping dank caverns to rainbow g🔯littering forests, there is so much to see in this game. It can be an overload for the senses at times, like when going into this game’s version of Super Saiyan, but that all depends on one’s in-game and T🍎V setup. The point is this is a treat for the eyes.

7 Worst: Actual Graphics

The💮 graphics themselves are less appealing today. Yes, this remaster does offer some polish in the typical remaste🍸r fashion. It even offers native 4K support to the consoles and TVs that support it.

Even on those max settings, the game still looks lౠike something frꦑom 2012. The animations of the characters are just one example. There is only so much a remaster can do to an eight-year-old game.

6 Best: Open Right Away

This is an environmental screenshot from Kingdoms of Amalur-Re-Reckoning.

The previous version was open after the first dungeon. It was a true 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:open-world RPG. That said, areas were gated by levels, so was it really? With this remaster, zones now scale betteไr to the player’🐈s level. This offers a greater deal of exploitability if certain quests or areas have no appeal to certain players. It was a good idea to change it.

5 Worst: Durability

It’s not as bad as something like 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but weapon and armor durability is present in the game. It doesn’t cost that much to repair items, but the fact that it is there can be a pain. This can become more of a hassle on higher difficulties🐲 which may be part of the point of this game. The point of this entry, though, is that item durability is rarely a fun mechanic for players in RPGS.

4 Best: Magic

This is a screenshot of the player in combat from Kingdoms of Amalur-Re-Reckoning.

The magic system is one of the best incorporated 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:in any RPG of this era. That’s because a lot of spells and abilities can help compliment weapon combos. There’s a hook-shot-like ability to let players feel like Scorpion from Mortal Kombat, for example. Another great one is Quake, which can make players feel like a mighty Earthbender from Avatar: The Last Airbender.

3 Worst: Camera Angles

This is a screenshot of the player in combat from Kingdoms of Amalur-Re-Reckoning.

As great as the weapon variety and spell systems are, there is one major downside to combat. The game sort of locks onto targets automatically and there 🔯is no way to manually lock onto enemies.

This means that battles can ♚get pretty chaotic due to crazy camera angles. It is far from the best setup, but it also isn’t unplayable either.

2 Best: Skip Dialogue

This is an environmental screenshot from Kingdoms of Amalur-Re-Reckoning.

The story is fairly generic. Players were dead, but were then reawakened because they’re some sort of chosen one. Go figure. NPCs have problems, players solve them, etc. It’s not bad, but it is definitely not the best thꦓing about the game. Thankfully cutscenes can be skipped, alo🍬ng with dialogue trees.

1 Worst: Not Much New

As far as remasters go, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning isn’t offering many real improvements nor does it have m𒀰uch new. All DLC is bundled inside, including a great set of starter weapons and armor. The level gate removal and 4K support are nice, but even at $40, one may have been hoping for more. It doesn’t evenꦰ have a photo mode.
