Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning is a remaster of a now eight-year-old game. With the fall season of gaming just starting, like with Marvel's Avengers, some might be curious as to why they should pick up this older title𓂃. The better question to a💧sk is actually what has been changed and added.
Unlike other remasters, even from THQ Nordic's library from this year including Destroy All Humans and SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated, not a lot was done for this re-ꦇrelease. There are still problems with the game that haven't been fixed so here are the big upgrades and the big misses one should be aware of.
10 Fixed: All DLC
As one might hope from a remaster of an eight-year-old game, this edition comes with all DLC. This includes the Legend of Dead Kel and the Teeth of Naros. There is also a weapons and armor set that can be acquired in the Special Deliveries chest found in the first town, Gorhart. It’s not so 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:much a fix 🎃as it is an inclusion, but it’s a go♊od value is the point.
9 Broken: No Photo Mode
Another aspect one would hope to get in a remaster, or a modern game in general, is a photo mode. The original didn’t have one because it just wasn’t a trend yet. This remaster didn’t add one either, which might be a huge disappointment for some. It would have been great to have a photo mode to share experiences on Twitter or other social media platforms because the game is so colorful. This can hopefully be fixed with 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:an update patch.
8 Fixed: 4K Support
Kingdom of Amalur Re-Reckoning still looks a bit like a 2012 game꧃. There is only so much developers can do with a remaster. That said, it does now support native 4K resolutions.
While it may look dated, it at least looks pre𝐆tty in 4K for what it is. Of course, this only goes so far depending on the console one has as well as the TV.
7 Broken: Can’t Jump
For such an action-heavy game, it was a bit odd at the time that Kingdoms of Amalur didn’t include a jump button. There are sections of this game that ask if the player wants to “jump” but it is always in set locations. It would be great if this ability 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:was later added as well, but so far, one still ❀can’t jump. This makes getting around the vast open-world more of a hassle than it needs to be.
6 Fixed: Level Lock
Speaking of the open-world, while the majority was unlocked from the get-go in the original, areas were gated by levels. That is to say, if a player walked into a further zone, they would die quickly because enemies would be stronger. The game 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:now scales with the player, al🗹lowing for a more flexible way to explore. If one doesn’t want to stick to the story, they can now go 𝄹wherever they want.
5 Broken: No Lock-On
How could a 2012 game launch with no lock-on ability? This was featured as a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:big upgrade for video games in The Legend fo Zelda: Ocarina of Time in 1998. All action games should have this, but Kingdoms of Amalur didn’t ꧒have it then and it doesn’t have it now. This can make the camera angles less than stellar a🍒s the game tries to sort of auto-lock onto targets. Needless to say, it is less than ideal for players.
4 Fixed: Better Loot
Like the level scaling, this remaster also changed the way loot drops. It will now try and drop gear that the game thinks will be the most beneficial toward the 🐭player’s gameplay style.
For example, if one likes using robes ✃and chakrams, the game may try and dish out more of that type of gear. That seems to be the idea anyway, but it’s hard to gauge if the𒉰 game is really good at doing that.
3 Broken: Loading
If a new game like Ghost of Tsushima can load with near lightning-fast speeds, than a remaster of an eight-year-old game should match that. The comparison makes sense here because both games are open-world. Granted, the open-world sections of Kingdoms of Amalur are vast and require next to no loads. However, when one enters a house, or dungeons, it takes a while and even longer when going back into the world. These speeds 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:don’t seem fixed at all.
2 Fixed: New Difficulty
The original release had three difficulties: Casual, Normal, and Hard. There is now one more: Very Hard. With the added DLC weapons, the beginning of the game can be pretty easy. That’s why this addition is a welcome 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:update to the original. For those wanting a meatier, hardcore challenge, this should satiate the appetite. One can change it🥀 at any time, by the wജay.
1 Broken: Can’t Pass Time
There is a day/night cycle in the game, which is fairly standard for RPGs. However, the only way to pass time, besides running around, is by sleeping. This can only be done at certain resting points, usually in a building. Other open-world RPGs, like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, allow players to stand still and pass time in a menu. Nothing like that was added to Kingdoms of Amalur.
