has confirmed in a community update post for that it's working on two new projects, with at least one of them being a brand-new IP for the studio.
The astronomical success of Baldur's Gate 3 last year had many fans convinced that the game's developer, Larian Studios, would be working on the IP for a long time to come, be it sequels or expansions. We were all surprised to hear, then, that Larian is actually moving away from Baldur's Gate and Dungeons & Dragons and going on to do its own thing.

Getting Back Into Baldur's Gate 3 Is Easier Than You Expect
Larian Studios' RPG is complicated, but 🐟picking it up after some time away isn't too intimidating.
This was confirmed by Larian CEO during a talk about the secrets of Baldur's Gate 3 at GDC 2024 last month, but it's remained a big surprise all this time later. Since then, we've heard a few things about the future of both Baldur's Gate and Larian, including that it was already working on its next big release.
Larian Is Actually Working On Two New Projects
As it turns out, though, Larian is actually working on two new projects, . We don't have any idea how far along the two new games are and what they'll even entail, but it looks like there's plenty of Larian goodness to look forward to.
In the post, Larian reiterates that it won't be working on Baldur's Gate 4 or making any expansions for BG3, and that it has instead chosen to value its freedom and "follow our creativity wherever it leads". In this case, that means that it's taking the opportunity to develop its own IPs. You read that pluralisation right, as Larian confirmed that it's actually working on two new projects.
"As an independent studio since 1996, we value the freedom to follow our creativity wherever it leads. In ♊this case, after six years in the Forgotten Realms and much discussion and rumination, we’ve decided to seize this opportunity to develop our own IPs. We’re currently working on two new projects and we couldn’t be more excited about what the future has in store."
Sadly, even if it's been confirmed that we're not getting a new Baldur's Gate from Larian, we don't know anything about what the new projects are going to entail. The Steam post clarifies that it's still "early days" for them both, but that the "sensibilities that brought you Baldur's Gate 3 are alive and well at Larian", which likely means that it'll have some similarities to Baldur's Gate.
