What Are Rune Prisons?

Rune Prisons act as optional boss fights in Last Epoch. Every tileset has a small chance to spawn a Rune Prison. Activating the prison will start a boss fight with the exile within. The Exile Mage boss is fairly tanky and has quite a few AoE⭕ attacks, so be careful fighting them in endgame Monoliths.

You can find Rune Prisons as early as the first few Chapters in the campaign. They can also appear in late-game Monolith runs, so virtually all players will stumble across a Rune Prison at some point. Open the prison, eliminate the boss within, a🀅nd claim the exile's experimental gear.

Opening A Rune Prison

Since the Rune Prison is a random encounter, one won't always spawn in your instance. Keep an eye on your minimap for a prison icon. If you find one, you simply need to walk up to the Rune Prison and click on it. This will start the boss fight.

The magical cell will open and reveal the Exile Mage, a boss unit that will bombard the screen with a hailstorm of AoE attacks. It will teleport across the battlefield, channel a variant of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the Mage's Disintegrate skill, and use various cold and lightning AoE skills throughout the fight. Use movement skills to avoid its AoE attacks, and kite around tꦏhe 🐠boss whenever possible. You'll receive your rewards once the mage is slain.

If you cap your elemental resistances (fire, 🔯cold, and lℱightning) to 75%, the Exile Mage fight becomes significantly easier.

Rune Prison Rewards

Successfully killing the Exile Mage will award an Experimental Item. These items are guaranteed to roll with an experimental affix, a hybrid mod that has two incredibly strong properties. It's also possible for these experimental affixes to roll on Exalted items, wh🌌ich makes it possible for Legendary items to have these affixes i♚f you're extremely lucky.

Furthermore, Exiled Mages above Level 70 can also drop a Rune of Research. This crafting material locks the experimental affix into its own slot, freeing up an affix for a new modifier. Using this also has a small chance of giving you a Glyph of Insight. This glyph has a small chance to convert a pre-existi𝕴ng affix into experimental 💖affix. With a little luck, these crafting materials make it possible to craft some of the strongest gear currently available in Last Epoch.
