We've all thought Marlene was some kind of the cold-hearted boss of the Fireflies that gave zero care about Ellie after playing the 2013 Last of Us, but this flashback scene on Part II gives players another sight of the story.

On the near-end of Part II, Lev helped Abby tracked down Owen and Mel's killer, and that's how he met Ellie for the first time. Lev was always aജ serious and rigid person, and he always questioned everything taught at the Saraphites.
