The skins, Cosmic Lux and Dark Cosmic Lux, play into Lux's story, her position on the Cosmic Court, and her fight to fend off the darkness that exists in her heart or give into it. The two cosmic skins share many elements, showing two sides of the same coin of Lux. As Legendary Skins, they're also expensiv✱e, clocking in at 1820 RP.
It is important to show Lux's duality since she has a darkness that she can succumb to if she isn't careful. However, this could have been handled differe💝ntly. Take DJ Sona, for example, whose skin (and beats) can be easily toggled through during gameplay. Perhaps Cosmic Lux could have been similar and allowed players to choose whether Lux is dark or light, depending on the situation.
Another method could've been adding a randomization feature, which would randomly select which version of the skin players get each game. It would also bode better with fans if the second version of the skin was offered for free or was heavily discounted if players already had one. Unfortunately, splitting Cosmic Lux🎶 into two variants was not the answer.
While the situation isn't ideal, Cosmic Lux and Dark Cosmic Lux are both beautiful skins, and the story that accompanies them is just as good. Unless Riot chooses to change how the skins are being sold, players will probably just be picking on꧅e or the other for now.
