The top lane is easily one of the most popular areas in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:League of Legends, much because of how many champions can fit in it. It's most common to see tanks and melee DPS characters up here, but that's not to say there aren't a few spellcasters and pure supports that can manage the top lane, too.
This range of champions can make the role incredibly fun to play, but there are tons of underrated characters that can put pressure onไ your top-lane opponents. If you want to give someone a real nasty surprise, these often-forgotten heroes can still take on most of the top lane metagame.
Updated December 14, 2021, by Harry Fresle: Due to the constantly changing nature of League of Legends, the top lane meta is especially prone to change, as the slightest buff or nerf to any runes or items will have the most prominent effect up top. As seen with Map updates, many champions who never stood a chance can now thrive. However, top lane now is in such a position that most champions are effective in this role, although very few are actually in the Meta. With many champions able to go a variety of builds, top lane is the most effective area to give players the freedom to experiment and try underrated picks.
10 Heimerdinger 𒅌
There was a brief time in the game where Heimerdinger was a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:menace on the top lane. Many ranged spellcasters can do wonders in this lane thanks to most players picking melee ಌchampions, but Heimerdinger manages to have even more reliable farming than most, thanks to his automatic turrets.
Thanks to the fact that hꦫe can have up to three turrets at once, he is capable of handling himself in lane or providing huge damage in team fights. His E is a fantastic stun ability, which can be empowered with his ul𝓡timate, making him one of the highest damage dealing mages that can take top lane.
9 Sion
Sion has undoubtedly been an underrated pick since his first release, although the fact that he can either go full tank or full lethality makes him far from useless. When going full tank, Sion becomes unstoppable as his health and armor scaling is immense which, coupled with his ultimate, can make for a terrifying p🏅resence in team fights.
However, if you want to go AD, his Q deals absurd damage while his passive enables him to become an assassin, especially if you take Prowlers Claw. He can take quite a bit of practice when going ADღ but you are able to either take out turrets with ease or provide huge damage when your opponent least expects it.
8 Vladimir
Vladimir has fallen out of the metagame hard, although this is strange considering he has yet to face any game-changing nerfs to his kit. With many players considering Vladimir the perfect champion due to his infinite sustain, his abilities enable him to poke while his W provides hi﷽m safety in ganks.
His damaging abilities coupled with his passive deal major damage, ꦐwhile also constantly healing yourself. His AP scaling is off-the-cha♐rts. He is undoubtedly one of the strongest options for top lane, and can also single-handedly carry most games if you learn the ins and outs of his character.
7 Maokai
Maokai has become much 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:more popular as a support than as a top lane champion lately, but he still fits just as well as eithജer. He still has some of the best crowd control compared to any other tank and, with his seedlings, he grants an alarming amount of vision compared to many other champions.
This opens him up to both spellcaster and tank builds, which can both deal a surprising amount of damage, especially if players take the rune 'Grasp of the Undying', which will help drastically in his lane phase. He's an all-star champion to choose, and just as strong now as he was when he was first released so many years ago.
6 Taric
Speaking of support champions who fit great in the top lane, one of the more underrated popular top lane champions from the past year was Taric, fantastic at healing, yet struggles to find much footing in the support role. What makes Taric so strong in the top lane is his own sustainability, which means he doesn't have to rely on an ADC.
The main idea of Taric Top is to build up your Q and E with your auto attacks, which can deal absurd amounts of damage, while also reducing the coo♏ldown of his Q which can heal him. This, alongside his ability to provide major help to any Junglers as he can heal them or give them a brief window of invincibility.
5 Vayne
Of all the AD carry champions to fit in the top lane, none have ever been as powerful or iconic as Vayne. Much of her 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:success in this solo lane is due to her mobility, as rolling around at high speeds lets her quickly amp her damage or get away from Junglers at a moment's notice.
The lack of health or armor can make her somewhat weaker in the later sections of the game, but she makes up for it by having some absurd damage and some clever crowd control if you're careful about aiming enemies to blast into walls. In the least, she's a great option if you want to just split-push turrets all day long.
4 Cho'Gath
After being one of the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:most iconic champions of the game, Cho'Gath has faded into obscurity for many players recently. This is may be because of his moveset, as he hasn't received many updates in quite a while and many might think he's too stale or simple. However, simplicity can often be a great home to power, particularly with spikes for damage and crowd control.
Even more dangerous are his abilities: his Q can deal major damage while his ultimate, which deals large amounts of True Damage to foes while raising his health on kills, can turn Cho'Gath into a walking behemoth. Going AP on Cho'Gath makes him an incredibly viable assassin, or going full tank makes him unstoppable.
3 Yorick
Yorick has always been a strong pick for the top lane, but many people seem to struggle to capitalize on just how effective Yorick is when playing a split-pushing Tank. Many players will focus on helping out their team or trying to fight other champions, but Yorick's unique strength is forcing attention to whatever lane he chooses.
His Q and Ultimate abilities are the best parts of his kit, as he can deal maj🅠or damage to any towers in his way, and easily shred through any minions. He is arguably the strongest split-pushing champion in the game, while also being able t🌃o hold his own against any ganks thanks to his W.
2 Warwick
Warwick is traditionally seen as a Jungler, as he has to strike hard and quickly, but he has quickly become one of the scariest enemies to see in the Top lane, with 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:many players banning him specifically due to his strength in theᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚ role.
Not only does Warwick's current moveset allow for a ton of lifesteal and great crowd control, but getting a foe down to half health will almost always let you eliminate them in a single rush. When combined with a proper gank and some harder crowd control, it's almost alarming how well Warwick is when your foe can see him coming.
1 Rengar
As great as Warwick is 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:outside the Jungle, it doesn't hold a candle to the underrated top lane version of Rengar. These new bushes mean you can get all the stealth of Rengar as a Jungler without needing to bounce around the map, and he can get a ton of reliable minions before chomping down on your unsuspecting opponent.
Although pairing up great with tank Junglers, when taking runes like Conqueror or, most effectively, Grasp, Rengar can deal massive amounts of damage to unsuspecting enemies. Rengar's oppressive ability to force out any laners and prevent them getting any farm will not only put the majorly behind but enable him for easy kills.
